Schools: university of southern california vs ut austin
Intended major: Business/finance

USC
Pros:

  • good student life & culture
  • great city, lots of things to do
  • LOVE the campus
  • get to go out of state/away from home
  • smaller school
  • the school as a whole may be more prestigious (tho idk if the business school is more prestigious than ut business)
  • admitted to GLP (global leadership program)
  • honors
  • half tuition scholarship (approx cost 55k)
  • business degrees are stem certified
  • good west coast placement

Cons:

  • not sure how easy it is to get to NYC for jobs (though i’ve met students who have and some current students also told me it’s 100% doable)
  • still more expensive than UT
  • not necessarily the safest place once you get off campus

UT Austin
Pros:

  • admitted to business honors
  • cohort model
  • case based learning
  • from what i’ve seen, good placement in NYC, but some ppl also stay in texas
  • friends who are going
  • can visit my dog whenever i want
  • in state tuition (signif cheaper!!!)
  • easy to switch to other majors within business (though i don’t think i’ll be doing this)

Cons:

  • not a fan of the campus or dorms
  • too close to home (i won’t have the same independence)
  • i’ve heard bhp culture can be toxic & very competitive
  • weather :(
  • not rlly a new experience since i’ve lived in austin my whole life
  • also not the greatest for safety

ik ut bhp probably has better academics, but idk if i should only base my decision on that or also consider the experience

I would personally choose bhp! cant beat instate tuition and ive heard the program is one of the best for business. also austin is great and usc is called the university of spoiled children and maybe for a reason but idk ultimately up to you

They both place similarly. Both are regional business schools. Most USC biz students end up in LA/SF offices and most UT students end up in Dallas/Houston offices.

I’d just go UT cuz it’s cheaper, if you don’t mind staying in Texas
