I applied as a electrical engineer. Although, I can’t decide. I might choose environmental (first choice), civil (second choice), and chemical. My passion is with nature (legit doing a three month program in the Rocky Mountains for conservation living in a tent). So any of these schools that would allow me to focus on sustainability and conservation.
UT Austin (leaning towards):
Pros:
Austin (top three places to live)
Best ranked engineering
Good job recruitment for nearby tech companies
Strong overall campus community/vibes with sports and other activities
NATURE NEARBY
Cons:
Interdisciplinary interest are hard to explore
14k a year
Vanderbilt:
Pros:
2k a year
Outside of Texas
Decent engineering
The community is the best I’ve heard
Hogwarts feelin
Cons:
Nashville
Engineering is questionable
Swarthmore:
Pros
2k a year
Cold
Outside Texas
pretty campus nature/Philadelphia
I can explore interdisciplinary interest
sustainability trend (renewable cups out of plastic in their acceptance box)
Cons
Unranked
Lack of information on LACs in general
Tiebreakers/Factors:
Looking for a college with more collaboration
environmental and robotics clubs
pursue grad school, which school opens more gates
