I am primarily interested in the humanities side of cognitive science/philosophy of science- the ethics of memory, defining pathology, etc. etc. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to attend 2 schools with great premed that have a relatively interdisciplinary education. I would like y'alls advice on where to go! (side note, im not completely sure whether I want to do an MD, go into academia, or something else haha)
WashU:
Pros- free, close to home, has the philosophy-neuroscience-psychology program that matches my interests almost perfectly.
Cons- premed is notoriously very very hard, sometimes even cutthroat. also, this sounds minor but im a huge foodie- their food catering company is changing...
Duke
Pros- slightly more prestige overall as a school, has the interdeparmental major where I can do philosophy+neuroscience. also, the FOCUS program where I can do cognitive neuroscience + law. gorgeous campus, good food. maybe slightly less cutthroat than washu.
Cons- expensive, would cost ~1/3 of my parents yearly income. Far from home (although this isn't a big deal).
