Similarities: Both are public, relatively highly ranked, with large class sizes, located in big cities.
UT Pros:
-ECE is decently ranked, and I got Engineering honors ($8k/yr or $32k total scholarship) as well as ECE Honors
-In a familiar area (visited multiple times, live four hours away), most of my classmates/friends are going
-like the city (good food, etc.)
-good at programs outside of engineering, & well rounded w/ humanities/music options (like EChO I think?)
-in Austin (tech hub)
-huge alumni connections
UT Cons:
-ranked lower than GT
-harder to switch majors (I am not 100% sure abt ECE/engineering in general)
GT Pros:
-#2 for EE (what more can I say)
-good research ops, strong career/internship opportunities
-great reputation, collaborative environment
GT Cons:
-no honors
-far away from home
-more expensive
-not that good outside STEM/engineering
-not as familiar w/ Atlanta
-moldy (?)
Tiebreaking considerations:
IK that GT is better academically/resource-wise for engineering. However, I am not dead set on engineering and may be screwed if I change my mind (?). I also need to justify (to myself) spending $30k more/year to go there OOS. My parents can/will pay, but I don't want to just go wherever simply because it's their money and not mine. pls lmk any other information that you guys have that can help in this decision :) thanks
