Location/Region: No preference

Major: STEM related or business

GPA/Test Scores (optional): In Brazil they don't calculate GPA, but it's probably around 3.5, I didn't take the SAT yet but I can get around 1400

Curriculum: Preference for rigorous, but I would accept something else

Size: No preference

Costs: My country's currency is worth nothing in US, so i would need at least a full tuition.

Schools you're currently looking at (if any): I got a list of reach/match colleges and universities.

Furman University
Wellesley college
Amherst College
Swarthmore College
Michigan University
Grinnel College
Pomona College
Middlebury College
Texas A&M
Baylor University
University of Rochester
University of Miami
Purdue University
Fordham University

Additional: I would like to work on campus if that means it would complete my tuition fees.

There are no safeties for internationals who need full aid. Tehre aren't really too many targets either

#

just FYI

But with these gpa and test scores could I get a full tuition in any of the colleges I mentioned?

You need a truly outstanding profile to get a full ride anywhere as an international. I'm experiencing this first hand as an international who's seeking aid this admissions cycle.

To get full tuition, you need a genuinely stellar profile. Look into ASU, UofA, USM, UAlabama though. They give a decent amount of scholarships.

to increase the likely hood of getting a full ride to the top colleges and LaC as an international seeking aid you would need at least a 1500+. Sat

#

For instance I got aid as an international to Carleton, a school that I reccomend you add to your list which is ranked 6th in LAC with a 1530 sat

#

Good news is the sat is easy to improve your mark with. To do so go to r/sat do past tests and review all your mistakes to ensure you won’t make similar ones. Also go to khan academy and learn grammar rules

#

I went from a 1420 mock test to a 1530 by this

shy cosmos
#

Yeah, specifically look for schools with merit aid. Again, a lot of the LACs you have don't give any

#

Even those that do often don't have 100%

Yeah, definitely

It is!

#

Just gets a little overlooked. I think location is a big part of it. LACs have a real northeast and socal identity

Btw @quartz valley I could send you my application profile here if you want

What are you planning to major in for pre med?

quartz valley
#

Impressive, thanks a lot

I would highly not recommend going for state schools if you’re looking for aid. So something like Michigan would be hard

Swarthmore is need aware for international so it’s even more competitive

This does NOT apply to OP's case. They're an international student. Both Swat and Pomona are need-aware for internationals, meaning the schools will take OP's financial need into account during the admissions process.

#

No, need-blind institutions wouldn't take OP's financial need into account, while need-aware schools do. However, as you said, both types of schools can fully meet OP's financial need. I think that's what you meant.

Yes, try applying so you won't have any regrets. Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT, Amherst, Dartmouth, and Bowdoin are the only schools that are need-blind towards internationals IIRC.

#

As an international student seeking aid (CO27), I personally applied to Princeton and Amherst during this cycle.

#

These are NOT matches nor safeties though (which you were looking for).

Not only your SAT. GPA (3.5 seems on the weaker side), and work on stellar extracurriculars and essays. Applying early might help, I'm not sure.

#

You're applying for fall 24 right?

quartz valley

#

Well, especially if you're on a gap year I assume. Expect AOs to want to understand why you took it, and how you experienced growth during your gap year.

Wouldn't recommend it. Why would colleges want to see their students suffer from depression while they're enrolled there?

#

I wouldn't take the risk.

I told you I wouldn't recommend it. You do you though, I guess.

Good luck!

@quartz valley its very, very hard to get a full ride international, just keep grinding the SAT

How are your extracurriculars
