#Dartmouth College (2022-2023)
1 messages · Page 2 of 1
studying similar field that i wanna go into
math (stats) x global studies(humanities)
The QSS major or some other marriage of those two fields?
not sure but i heard normal dartmouth alumni interviews are already over like a week ago and no one i know got a senior interview 🤔
we cope
woahh
wait huh
i got an alumni
and we havent met yet
lol
other people in my school got interviews like mid january
lmao
anyhow need to ace this one
like they contact u by early feb at the lastest
ohhh ok
yeah, they do some last minute or even after the deadline, but hte bulk of them are done by now
kk
🥵
😋 🌶️ 🤤
Lol
no lol, my friend got a senior (70 yrs old) alumni interview him and I got a guy who's a current senior at Dartmouth 🗿
ohhhh
Their DED deadline is like feb 5th to send interviews? very sus
I got an old guy too lol
🗿
Yayyy!
I have been thinking abt that interview over and over
it was great 🤌🤌🤌
man gave that crazy advice
hmm
basically he says u need to look out for yourself
as the only Indonesian student there he felt so isolated
and he didn't feel like the smartest there so he went into his own hole
oof
and how he regrets that
he said that Dartmouth has worked on the socieeconomic stuff but yes there is still racism and it is predominantly white
yes that is true
and basically he said u just need to find ur people
dartmouth were still some of his best years
and basically he summed it up that college is the place u need to branch out
there's sm more he said that I'll probably remember later but yeah
awesome dude
repeatedly emphasized that with examples and all
yeah that's good advice
it sounds like he was super honest and u guys had a great conversation
ty for sharing
mine was great haha
I think I got a '19, pretty recent grad
we bonded over our love of memoirs and gave each other book recommendations 😂
and there was an absolutely crazy coincidence
Basically like her sister works at my school
and in junior year I started a composting project at my school and designed a bunch of posters
I emailed it to my interviewer who showed them to her sister
and her sister was like she sees it all the time 😂
dude same with me I told how I couldn't be assed with the lord of the rings and he said naaah fax the first 100 pages are doodoo and he said you need a start with the hobbit
then I gassed up Harry Potter so much and he was like yeah always a classic
I even told him about my monopoly gambling ring
he was impressed
lmao 😂
nah that's really cool I guess he actually liked your stuff and all
probably contributed to ur dub
I hope that's me soon 🙏🙏🙏
yeah I felt like that was a big reason why I got in, although I'm pretty sure usually u don't need rely on such a coincidence like that to get in
yeah, good luck!!!
true
I hope your good interview will contribute to your admissions as well
yep, you already put your best foot forward now just let the chips fall where they may :)))
my dartmouth interviewer graduated 2020 so we hit it off pretty well
Wow...class of 2020...respect
yeah he used 'dude' with me
he was the most chill interviewer i had
Nice nice
How long does peer rec have to be
its a little late
same
mine was 800-900 words (kinda long ik, but he;s my best friend and boy it was adorable)
the one i wrote was 500 words
mine wasn’t v long
just a couple paras
but the person who wrote it was v important in my app
now i feel like my interview did not go as well as i though it did
No no don't worry
I bet if u felt like it went well it went well
Don't compare yourself to others
lolll im just kidding
mfw i haven't been offered an interview to begin with
Especially since I got super lucky and i doubt mine was the standard experience
Ok lol
standard people dont get into ivies
From what I heard Dartmouth's pretty good about understanding that there isn't enough alumni in certain areas to offer everyone an interview
i haven't had any interviews
none
crickets
deafening silence
Oh...
Oop
the pain is unbearable sometimes
I'm sorry to hear :((
Same lol😭
Accept@it!!!!
This is a bunch of questions I compiled:
Most of my notes are writing down her answers to my questions and not what she asked me, so I might miss a couple of questions. This is what I can remember (paraphrasing):
• Describe your school: what’s the general vibe like? How many people in your senior class? What’s the curriculum like?
• What classes are you taking this year?
• What’s your favorite class?
• What are some extracurriculars that you do?
Then she asked specific questions about them, like I established a composting program at our school and she asked me how I did that
I talked about rowing and she asked what’s the most challenging part of being a coxswain
• What do you do in your free time/to relax?
• Why Dartmouth?
• The interview was approx. 1 hour, her asking me questions were like 30 minutes, and I had a list of 10 questions that I asked her the rest of the time
Question my college counselor said to prepare for: how do you plan to use the D-Plan?
Dartmouth interview questions/prep I found on the internet:
Dartmouth interview: https://talk.collegeconfidential.com/t/dartmouth-alumni-interview-tips/2107782/3
• Tell me about yourself ( then asked questions about the things I talked about )
- Why Dartmouth
- Your favorite book and why
- What inspired me to pick my major / Why I want to go into that field
- Favorite movie
- Favorite classes / what’s my school like
- What would you do if you had 24 hours to do anything you wanted?
- Questions about my resume
- I’m an international student, so they asked me questions about the lifestyle/ culture here
- Questions I had for them
https://www.getyourselfintocollege.com/2017/08/dartmouth-alumni-interviews/
https://empowerly.com/blog/prepare-for-your-alumni-interview
I did my interview and my interviewer mentioned nothing about “why Dartmouth” haha, confident as heck
Learn what Dartmouth asks alumni interviewers to write about in their reports. Get Dr. Bernstein's strategies for preparing for all alumni interviews.
List of questions to ask your interviewer for reference:
• How was your first year trip?
• Dartmouth has a lot of outdoor activities throughout the year, but I didn’t hear about a lot of activities in winter other than skiing. What can you do outdoors in winter?
• Is there anything you don't like? If you had to say, what would you change about this college?
• If you’re admitted, what is the timeline like? When do you take placement tests/sign up for classes/fill housing survey/move in?
• How does first year course selections work?
o Do you meet with your advisor?
o How much freedom do you have?
o How easy/hard is it to enroll in a class you want to take?
• Most interesting class you’ve ever taken?
• Dartmouth prides its close-knit community. Can you describe a concrete examples of Dartmouth’s community?
• Describe Greek Life at Dartmouth: are frats/sororities like?
o Does participating in a sorority take up so much time that you won’t be able to do something else?
• I’m really interested in social change. How active are Dartmouth students in bringing issues about campus to administration, and how do they respond?
• What does an average day/week for a student look like?
• What do you do during 6 weeks between fall & winter quarter(winterim)?
• How many hours of sleep do students get on average?
• What was the biggest difficulty in transitioning to college?
But basically just know how to answer basic questions about yourself, your academic experience & extracurriculars (review ur app if it helps), why dartmouth, prep a few question for the interviewer, and relax and have a good conversation
THANK YOU !!
What is unique to Dartmouth 🗿🤔
tree
Biggreen as alumn is the most important part
He is our savior
Hi
Hello
Hello
Did you get in?
maybe
yep
31 march 7 pm est
oops, sorry for that, it was 31st for me and i mixed up IST date with EST time
tbf its been the weekend of a holiay weekend
there was an error with my teacher recs and one got in like a week ago
also my second peer rec isnt showing up
bro should i even email them about the peer rec at this point
true true i can wait a bit
u don't need a second peer rec
the portal only has space for 1 peer rec, therefore only 1 shows up even if the 2nd 1 got through
same with additional teacher recs, after you submit your first 2 teacher recs & counselor recs, an extra teacher recommendation won't show up because they didn't put a space on the portal for it to show up
yeah second peer rec isn't a thing
I didn't submit a peer rec my friends don't speak english and they literally don't even know what a recommendation is😭😭😭
Is it gonna hurt my chances?
just write your own
maybe if you email them and explain?
I'm sure your situation isn't unique and they'll be understanding if they know
but don't let them assume it's bc u don't care or missed it or something
Yes they know the situation in my country and there aren't many undergrad applicants from here so I doubt there are other applicants who did submit a peer rec
I see, so you're probably fine
But I would email them just in case
Alright thanks
i know i just had two friends who know me in different ways so i wanted to have both those highlighted
thx for clearing up the portal thing tho 🙏🙏
np :))
Mine was exactly these same questions
I thought it weird for my interviewer to show curiosity about my high school life. I didn't outrightly have a "tell me abt yourself question "
why would it be weird? That's kinda the point of college applications
It felt as though they were cross checking things I already stated in my apps× ecs
Like asking 'what's the name of your high school'?... Lmao
they have no idea about anything in your app
did yall get a request to submit grades
i got one in like early feb
from an ao
to my counselor
Yes
that was a generic email
yes, you don't submit your own grades
yeah but it was odd
cause no other college does that
and it was like generic
cause i doubt my counselor gets 50+ emails like that
for each student
Oh yeah I was surprised by that 1 too 😂 though a non dartmouth interviewer asked me that question
Lmao. Just lol
??
@lusty apex Are you saying that you think your interviewer knows lots about your app?
The 3D magazine is great to read for Dartmouth interview 😳
yeah that works,
for instance I was worried that my school's policy of keeping counselor recs below 150 words would kill my chances, juts emailed all my schools about it and almost every school replied with something positive, some even attached that email straight to my file!
should I call them about an error I made on my app? I emailed a while ago and didn’t get anything back
i mixed up an essay☹️🔫
pro tip: don't use chatgpt to write emails.
Monday, Feb 21st, between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM (PST)
Tuesday, Feb 22nd, between 5:30 PM and 8:00 PM (PST)
Wednesday, Feb 23rd, between 1:30 PM and 5:00 PM (PST)
monday was the 20th, not the 21st 💀
this is fine 😄
everything's fine 😄
lol
uhh maybe?
I know someone at my school who accidentally submitted 10 hrs for all his activities bc he calculated it separately and forgot to update it before submitting
He called the admissions office and provided them with the correct information, and he still got in (& it was an Ivy + school)
although he did call the day after submitting
but better late than never ig
Interview with senior went well 😌👌 almost an hour
man said i had one of the most compelling profiles and did much more research into dartmouth than most of the people he interviewed so far
Two full days of research helped, thanks guys 🙏
congrats!!
time to…. email my guy back eventually
💀
my chances at dartmouth widdle away
i think it’s too late to say “im not sure if you’ve seen my emails” 🥲
it was a mistake i didn't notice until now because i swore i checked over everything
i swear it's commonapp's fault
like i deadass think it sent in an earlier save state of my app
still no response?
he responded over text.. like a week ago
and i responded then he told me to email him
which
hasn’t responded to
so another email? idk

i feel like dartmouth is gonna see this report and reject me
if i even have the interview
idk lol, im confused myself
but i just did an interview with a current dartmouth senior who is also double majoring
👀
Yeah
I said i wanted to double in astro and gov
Not rlly 😅
that sounds cool
peer pressured 💀
uh huh
that’s crazy
yk what’s crazier
👀
LOL
😗
did info session
emailed them prior
asking questions
😎 they gave me a fee waiver
commitment ✨
they fr want to admit me
pretend they don't exist
oh
that sucks
i can have many loves
but in the dartmouth thread
i didn't get a dartmouth interview :((
like idk if i should worry or not i mean there's alum im sure in my area too bc im from san francisco
think you’re good
Tbh I’m worried too Bc I didn’t get an interview and my friend did tho
Availability?
But interview reports hard deadline is today the 22nd
I don’t think they will assign more interviews, maybe senior interviews idk
Ahh okay rip but thank u
is there a list of 'why dartmouth'
- teaching quality
- combinatino of lac/r1 university
- d plan
etc...
i have my interview in 30 min 💀
at this point do i just email admissions
still no interview, just wishy washy lack of communication from interviewer
has been 2 weeks
he’s had 3 emails and a text message
i may just try to text him again. he said he might have autodeleted my replies
BRO MY INTERNET CUT OUT LITERALLY 2 MINUTES INTO THE INTERVIEW
THIS SUCKS
interview started 3:31
internet cuts out in 3:36
send a note explaining and try to get it working?
why
you're messaging us
no i used my phone and its chill
the interview ended
tbh i dont think i made a good impression 💀
it was 5 min...
i think ur good unless it was legitimately 5 min
i downloaded zoom on my phone
ah ok
and rejoined the meeting on phone
so its all chill
but like i think i was too stressed
Gl bro

BRUH I wish I saw this before my interview
sorry...qwq also apologies if I pinged u a lot bc my messages keep exceeding server limits
all g
Disclaimer! I wouldn’t say this is a “pros” list, it's more like a “personality” list, since many of these can be seen as negatives by someone who isn’t a good fit. Like if you hate nature then it's a con for you, which is why you should research the pros & cons of each item. Therefore, you should view this more as a starting point for research and decide for yourself whether if it's a "pro" or not. The true “Why Dartmouth” list is a you list after you research. Also, I might have missed some stuff & most of these come from what Dartmouth Admissions put out, who may downplay the cons
omg this is a lot
lol i basically mentioned all in one form or another
not fud 🗿
they always take them late
that’s fantastic. my interviewer just got back to me with a date and time
3 emails, 2 text messages, and 2 weeks later
im really grateful
nothing
Time to prep lol
They try to offer to everyone
but there aren't enough volunteers, especially post-COVID to keep up
does dartmouth send out promotional emails?
nice
They do occasionally, but they don't spam you like some other schools do
You can sign up for their email list on their website
oh okayy
Are Dartmouth interviews selective?
Yes same question
Everyone says it’s not
But now for instance, very few people from my country got it
Does it mean that they had some preference ?
Or just blindly selected?
But if blindly selected it doesn’t make any sense
Like why would they
????¿¿¿¿
check your DM bestie
i want to see the email in question
Sure!
tysm
No it isn't
I used to assign them, it was 100% based on availability
the people assigning have no information about you other than: name, school, email, phone, stated academic interest
maaybe I had home address too
but I don't think so
not doing it is a bad look
just do it
or like don't if you don't care about Dartmouth
Bro, if you get an interview and decline, it's demonstrated disinterest
Definitely accept it cuz it's difficult to bomb the interview
yeah my interviewer had my home address
I don't think that is true
I just went and checked my last few assignments and it didn't have home address
I may have had it when I Was the person assigning, which has another interface
my interviewer was like "you live pretty close to me" after I asked some questions
I forgot what I asked though
could have just inferred based on other info
either way, it is pretty limited and assignments are not based on content of the apps
yeah thats fs our interests/majors didnt align that much
I do care, but interviewer will get bored
Is not like it’s hidden anyways
i doubt that
these are people who go out of their way to volunteer to talk to teens
I don’t have anything important to talk about
Still, am not sure if I should accept
Basically just talk about ur app
About your classes, extracurriculars, hobbies, etc
What you're interested in, why you applied
Like if u know all that basic stuff you should be fine
Dartmouth does track demonstrated interest and accepting an interview is an easy way to show u care enough to do an interview
U don't need to have anything earthshatering just the basic stuff will do
Oh, that’s easy then
Finally someone who I can complain about the bad education system 😈
Wdym
They'll also be asking you questions
Well then, I guess I will accept then
You don't just elocute for 45min

Actually they don't track demonstrated interest
^ mine didn’t
he’s from upstate i’m from lower
i would
just do 15 min of research
on what dartmouth has
then belabor ur app
and again, they'll be asking questions and leading a lot of the convo
yup then you ask them questions
Well then, I guess I should accept
from my experience you only have to talk about yourself for 15-20 minutes
and it’s all guided
the rest of the time you just ask questions
Hmm, what should I ask? 🧐
They said they consider demonstrated interest in the common data set
their website says they don't
Just like your application
@zinc summit this is what I posted before on what to ask ur interviewer & questions they asked me
dunno
probably ED lol
Lol true
Ah then, no issue
Tysm
I can’t gauge how my interview went 😭
He sounded really uninterested and I think that might be because I’m not a minority but i hope not because i really enjoyed speaking with him
his focus the entire time in his responses was on minorities and he was really nonchalant when I told him about other stuff :(
I think it did go well though
wait how long was it
40 min
thats decent, ig the minority thing wouldnt matter much in the report anyways
nah he had a time limit of 40 minutes
he had the free version lol
we used the full 40
also he said i took more math than he took in college, and he could clearly see i was interested in astrophysics, he said that me developing (my startup idea for research in college that i kinda rambled on the topic of) was really remarkable for a high schooler
and he hit me with a sarcastic statement about my ecs 😩
what'd he say?
he said “what else do you do outside of school other than saving the planet and saving the educational system?”
i know it was harmless and meant to kinda compliment my achievement
but are interviewers allowed to ask what your parents do for a living?
i got asked about my family and then “what jobs my parents work” and at the end, asked what other schools i applied to
ah okay
yeah he wrote a bunch of notes down for it though
that’s why i was nervous
i talked abt my cultural heritage and what my sister is interested in, but it felt like i was kinda being probed
i mean you are supposed to be a little probed 🙂
yup i totally agree with that
i think it was beneficial because he basically asked about every single component of all of my major ecs
then i mentioned a lot of current things i was working on, it was just overall an interesting interview
normally when i interview it’s like “tell me about yourself? ok cool! why school?” and that’s it
my interview was def similar to urs
at some point she would say some sarcastic stuff or swear but i think it was just to keep the mood light
fwiw a duke ed admit ik had an extremely uncomfortable interview but ended up getting in
the interviewer later told him that he was the first interviewee that he ever rated a 5
wow
the two I've given the top rating to have both not gotten in 😦
lol?
Detriot vibez?
bruh i hv no clue lol
really? for my school they assigned dartmouth interviewer based on interests
everyone got people that had similar interests
and im doing engineering
but his kids did engineering so that might be why
also very few people got interviews
yup same
the only people who got interviews are my friend who got in ed, and then me
and it was the same interviewer
i think we only have one in the state atp
with availability that isn't always possible. Plus different people assign interviews in different areas, and some may not prioritize that as much
i see
My interviewer did minor in astronomy and my major is physics
mine does med, specifically immunology, and my major is psych
I plan to double major and my senior interviewer double majored
i followed my duke interviewer on instagram he was so hot 😭
My interviewer is kinda hot ngl
has anyone here gotten a likely
Pretend they don't exist
dartmouth doesnt exist
i want to throw up I'm so nervous for ivy day - i did the indigenous fly in and everything I hope they want me
Normally getting asked to do the flyins are a great sign
i don't wanna get my hopes up cause I did it cause ppl be throwing numbers around like 90% of participants get in or smth
could dartmouth give interviews in march
even though the deadline has passed
and if so what would that mean
If you get a senior late it’s probably decent news
There are probably also just interviewers who forgot
🗿
Techically yes, I did a few last year after the deadline, but it isn't super common
do you think decisions have already been made pretty much?
will having an interview reported after the deadline really do anything
No they haven't been made
they are probably being made
but a lot of the reps I have emailed are still reading
so they are just shifting to committee nowish
my interviewer never replied back 😭
After your interview?
my email confirmation
scariest school IMO cuz istg my school got black listed
I sent an update. Would they consider it?
(gonna post this in all ivy chats)
we’re in the home stretch people! i know it’s easy to be nervous but even if we don’t get the results we want it’ll all work out in the end. i promise ❤️
supposedly they like like add it to your app
What
idk i emailed them a while ago
and then i got a response saying that the email system is managed by current students, not AO's and that the students will go ahead and put a note in the app
the application management system - is that the applicant portal?
okayyy
Omg
Going into March already
Time FLEW
Lmaoo y’all simp for your interviewers?
Couldn’t be me my interviewers are alums from the 1960s ☠️
hello, fancy seeing you here
right?? my mit interviewer was kinda 😳
did you call the admissions office?
I'll have to ig
Fako is a Fake 😔
they'll probably just say it won't count against you and interviews are optional anyways. still do though
Could also just email
this is what penn's admissions dept told me in a similar situation.
Or simply ignore the situation
Oh that means I can say no to the interview
☺️
No lol, not having one doesn’t impact you. Declining one shows demonstrated disinterest
yeahhhh
I'll get started on the logo this Thursday or Friday I promise
no problem!
I have the feeling Dartmouth will bless me
nobody applies from Indonesia
inshallah I clutch up
I have lost hope I just got rejected from Hispanic Scholar Fund Scholars program there’s no way im getting into Dartmouth
Oof I'm so sorry to hear that
But please don't lose hope...a scholarship isn't a college and they look at different things...plus u didn't fly in the scholars program but u flew in to Dartmouth. This process is really random, so don't lose hope and don't bank on things either
Flyin is a big deal
hey guys darmouth is just showing my CSS profile in the Financial aid checklist section
Is it same for everyone?
thanks
https://home.dartmouth.edu/news/2022/12/class-2027-begins-take-shape I'm sure this has already been posted, but this was a neat thing to see
two I think? One general and one for indigenous
would you have qualified?
idk
i haven’t even looked into the program yet 💀
how hard would it be to transfer into junior or snr year tho into dartmouhh th
just by %s bc some articles say 10% others say .5% so idk
very low. One year I was working at Dartmoutht they took 4 transfers
and it would be impossible to transdfer in senior year
and the general fly in is basically just for FGLI students and students of color
i did the indigenous one it was amaziing
that's great!
is dartmouth your top choice? (u don't have to answer if u don't want to)
nice those are similar schools
guys I sent an update to dartmouth on like feb 22 and never received an acknowledgment response should I be worried 💀
they are a little busy
oh okay thank you!!
that’s speed right there 💀
bc the first time I sent them an update they did reply so 😭
when was that?
very early feb
1st or 2nd
I got an automatic reply first
and then acknowledgement
but this time not even automatic reply 💀
yeah i dunno, i'm not sure how much a second update this time of year helps
yeah ik its kinda late but i got this research assistant position i’ve always wanted so I sent it anyways
well its whatever atp lol
can I update them about grades
like I improved in some classes
or not worth bothering them
Probably
Worst comes to worse they don't respond or don't read it
I don't see a downside so why not
id already updated before with other things
and i mentioned some grade improvments
but i have 2 classes i just did super well on (went from A to A*)
so i can rlly just send an update abt them?
hope they dont get pissed
ahh ok
I'm not sure if they care about A to A+
yeah idk u did update before & already mentioned grade improvements, so I guess your fine
chilling thn
Has any intls submitted tax returns and parent’s employer statements for Dartmouth?
they don't ask those untill you are selected IG
Oh got it. Thanks.
How are you updating them though, via email?
thru portal
i didnt get interview from Dartmouth, ik that they interview candidates they love. Now i am worried
they havent even asked for that
i updated them around 14 feb and mailed them. they acknowledged it and even saw whats in pdf as they asked about a specific question regarding it. does this mean that they have reviewed my application?
It's based on availability
They have 100% read your application. It's march
im freaking out bro the thought of that is crazy, so nervous for ivy day
do you think i can still get an interview?
Doubt it at this point
do students who dont get interviews get into Dartmouth?
Sure

does anyone who hasn't visited want pics of campus? I have lots of pretty ones
yes!!
big green slay 🫶
I think it's right behind the native american house
how safe it has to be for not getting robbed at night
impossibly safe
Random violent crime in hanover is basically unheard of, maybe a handful in the last 3 decades
Yeah the only thing I would note is I did get catcalled a bunch - and as far as safety being a woman I felt less safe than I did at Amherst
My friend and I got harassed by some frat guys when we were walking back from boba
that sucks, I'm sorry that happened
imagine
I think he means ‘imagine life like that’
oh, that makes more sense
exactly
I want to live there 😞
i agree
gets tiring hearing people nearby you getting shot on the news 😅
Has anyone received the financial aid mail for rd yet?
From college board or Dartmouth?
Darty
Isn’t it supposed to come from college board
I received one like “one of your college is requesting this this document”
I signed in to IDOC
and saw like some colleges requesting etc
No I mean a mail
Y’all this is so random but the food at Dartmouth goes so hard- best food I’ve ever had from a college
That's great to hear cause foco is like the only dining hall lol
I’ll eat Dartmouth itself
😋
please not this again
@mighty aurora time to mute?
Guys guys guys
Hello
This withdraw link suddenly appeared on portal
Does this mean that Dartmouth is expecting I got ED2 acceptance
Since my profile was slay?
And they think that I got somewhere in ED probably
???
Pls tell
what
I don't think it means anything? The withdraw link was always on the ED1 portal
NOOOOOOOO
?
¿
What???
D💚A💚R💚T💚M💚O💚U💚T💚H
are you good
The delusions and psychosis of being a senior during March
You'll be fine, don't read too much into it
heyy is there anyone here submitting isfaa instead of css and doesn’t have FA documents in their portal?
afaik no one has docs in the portal yet
Wdym by isfaa documents checked?
Ohh okay
Pretend likely letters don't exist
International students who sent the ISFAA to Dartmouth, does your checklist show the CSS profile as awaiting?
Waived
Mine isn't waived but my financial aid materials are received. Should I contact them?
can i send LOCI now?
Like if you were really intereted and it remained your top choice, odds are you would have done this ASAP
or at least in Jan
now it starts to feel like you didn't get in other places and are scrambling
i sent one but made a mistake in it, what can i do?
its just i worded a qualification to an exam incorrectly
i "qualified an exam" but i wrote "qualified for"
i sent it 2 weeks ago
what could be right?
i don't even really know what you are trying to say
how could i phrase it if im trying to write an update email
i don't know what qualifying an exam means
so i can't help
that isn't a normal english phrase
qualified for 2nd stage of exam
olym
oh,, so qualified for makes sense
can i update them, it could really help me
if thats the only mistake in your loci it probably isnt worth it this late
if you have new info sure. I don't know that it will change anything
they've been in committee for weeks
you can update them yes but it likely wont changr anything. they’re in committee
yep
can you tell how could i phrase it?
wait, what is your new info?
you already told them about qualifying for the next round, right?
i made a mistake by phrasing the sentence as "i qualified for 1st stage" instead of "i qualified for 2nd stage"
so you have no update
it is 100% not worth it to send in a new update to fix one typo
especially this late
they’re in committee, im sorry ):
im thinking to just reply to same email as update: qualified for 2nd stage
or it will eat me alive
the good news is that this likely wouldn't have any impact on your decision
nobody went from reject to admit due to this kind of thing
^^
Good night Dartmouth ❤️
night night
Good morning Dartmouth
Waiting for the day they'd wish us back
did u only get like 4 hrs of sleep
Same
I didn’t sleep
omg same
good luck bestie
Very good qs
Thnks you too
good luck!!
stop spamming the chat lmao
poma asks: My Dartmouth application included a peer recommendation.
good morning! i genuinely love your enthusiasm
I hope Dartmouth loves it too
Trueee
email them every single day
idk abt u but i couldnt sleep at night seeing awaiting beside a peer recommendation (optional)
more like peer recommendation (recommended)*
Good night Dartmouth 😘🌙
😍😍😍
didnt you get into MIT?
Mozambique Institute of Technology
hello my #3
I sent very smeksy rec
my peer rec was so good
i mean, it is recommended, which basically means required
my friend sent it to me to read after he submitted
Bcs my friend very cute
it was very wholesome
well just asking, if i also wrote a peer rec for a really good friend of mine, would that writing style have any contribution to my app's review as well?
no
my best friend who wrote mine wouldn't let me see it until i had a decision, so admit or deny ED or in april if I got deferred
definitely not
i’m going to be bummed if i get outright rejected just for the sake of how good that rec was
i had a major awww moment after i saw it
i really liked my peer rec too (the one written for me), although he did manage to stretch it out to 700-800 words,
yikes that's a lot
wow
to be fair all of them were useful references idk
Same
mine wrote a full page but it wasn’t over
Hah noob
Mine was 1000
also, he kept randomly roasting me
Same. My friend isn't necessarily the best writer (we both know that) but she literally pulled all the stops and I was like omg 😭😭
yeah it was insane
i know he’s an excellent writer
but it was phenomenal
he referenced things we did together that i didn’t even remember
from months prior
yeah mine went back years
my friend mentioned things from as long ago as 2017 ig,
the fact that he jotted all those memories down was really made me tear up
at the time I had only known him a year and a half
did y’all have a Dartmouth interview
Damn
I did
but we got really close in that time period
howd it go
L
well it wasn’t great
mine as well
My dude was cool af
yeah that’s how my Princeton one was
I couldn’t see if he was angry sad happy ???
very straightforward question answer
my princeton was so short and serious
YEAH
Blank
princeton has a reputation for uptight interviews, altho its changing but still
ok the fact that biggreen did a peer rec means its probably mandatory to the few people who put thumbs down lol
idk mine was like “😐😮😦😐😑😐” the entire time
still. waiting.
my harvard one was better
I'm sure peopel get in without it, but I do think you're giving up some crucial stuff
ugh i never got a yale interview
😭😭
i never got any interview
I got lucky the interviews were virtual my guy lives in LA and I’m in Michigan
🥹
Originally from michigan though
my harvard and mit guys were both out of region
ah all of my people were in region except UPenn
dartmouth and princeton wrere both in my state
yeah i had a bunch of interviews in other areas last year
0 😇
I got Dartmouth Yale Princeton Harvard UPenn
4, harvard princeton dartmouth mit
literally no schools reached out to me
Damn
autoaccept
Im like always checking my email now
thought my intetrview was the bomb
wish I got Stanford too
Or Columbia
anyone know when Columbia’s interview date cutoff is
Prolly already hit tbh
yup
Ima send in an awards update tomorrow even though it’s late asf
might help if not doesn’t hurt
what’s y’all’s predictions looking like for your acceptances and rejections
if you're talking about chance me's then they are inaccurate asf
for the remaining 4:
brown - waitlist
dartmouth - reject
nyu - accept but bad aid
usc - accept but bad aid
harvard princeton yale columbia cornell dartmouth northwestern northeastern jhu - accept
manifest 🪄
in reality? probably going to have to go to state school
im probably going to macalester
if i get the scholarships i applied to, i’ll just commit to the state school
atp there’s no use in trying to get into top tier schools if i can’t afford
my state school offered me a chance at a full ride plus spending money but I got sick and couldn’t go to the event
it was a day after my senior trip return travel day
but I already have a full ride and honors there so whatever, I’m going to Macalester as my “safety” anyway
I’ve been off-put by my state school bc of how they manage things, especially big events. complete ass backwards shitshow
ngl, its a little puzzling that american schools get costlier, the higher up you go
in here, its the acc opposite,
people end up paying a lot for low tier schools
higher ranked ones are relatively well funded and have low coa,
in fact many research based colleges have scholarships that they basically give to 80% of their class which often means net coa totals to be negative
if you’re in a certain income bracket that’s actually true here also
for instance brown is the most affordable school left on my list other than my state school
makes sense
it’s bc of the endowment that elite schools get
understandable
rejected everywhere other than university of arizona, deferred harvard
yo
does anyone know if this is a good sign
or am I overthinking
Reddit making me think this basically@means anyone who got it will get in but could be cap
Congratulations
it basically says “hey your financial aid application is incomplete”
that’s what I figured
I was just scrolling on Reddit mega thread thing and people were talking about it
Had me double thinking
thats my take at least
since if they wanted to send a likely letter they’d just straight up send one yknow?
exactly that’s what I’m saying
u think the people on Reddit are just capping
ig we will find out in 2 weeks yk
You are in @kind turret just trust me bro
I know a dude in ed who had this and got in
There are several other examples
My opinion is keep hopes high and expectations low
Don’t think you’re in guaranteed since it’s not exactly concrete proof but it’s alright to have some hope
fs
My expectations are low but i got hope since I got wl uchicago
figure if I can get WL there then i might have chance at an Ivy
yeah thats impressive, nice
i’m hoping the best for ya!
Congrats. Is this the end of the mail? I have seen others getting this mail many times but never say the end of the mail.
No there is a little more
Do they ask for specific tax docs or sth?
Oh ok
Oh yeah but I think people who got this mail have got into Dartmouth in the past. Are you an intl applicant?
Oh ok. Rooting for you in RD.
yeah^^, not a guaranteed acceptance or even a likely but hey they're looking for ur fin aid so thats good
👍👍 keeping my fingers crossed
