georgia resident?
Nah oos International
whats college park scholars?
I got in
I applied CS but the acceptance letter is showing this
but I took like 64 credits at a community college while in high school
it means you are undeclared
accepted oos but not to honors college
I had a 3.93 uw, 14 APs + post-APs, 1580 sat, USAMO qual, selective ressearch program
does this mean my common app was shit?
Did anyone get in with a History major ?
That’s how I feel lol dw
Damn 1580 tho that sucks
ya fr
bruh i wanted honors
scholars does not hit the same
what major
math ;-;
is it not the honors program
supposedly its only like 70 kids for each of the 12
oh dang I’m sry
cohorts
I’m lowkey scared now
no scholars is separate
ya I read that
it’s better than regular
it’s like in between getting into regular and getting into honors
Does UMD base honors college admissions in stats?
it’s also 2 years as opposed to honors being 4
Or essays?
Huh
UMD was the only real one today
stats, ECs, essays
I had 3 times usa(j)mo, a research paper, statewide music awards, 3 club leadership positions, and a varsity sport for ecs, is that seriously lacking 😭
yes
Wow and honors ?
Damn bro I mean
ECs are actually dogshit
No accepted but just regular college
Same cs ?
got straight rejected from everyone else
no, math
honestly don’t beat yourself up over it, there’s a lot of things out of your control that aren’t on you. it could’ve been ur essays and it maybe wasn’t. i know a girl who was rejected in state UMD and she ended up going to Cornell, the process is truly a lottery at one point and we are all playing it’s game and u still got in so don’t even worry ab it
much better than me lol
shit i feel bad
holy fuck
That makes me feel better
if i sent my ECs yall would get second-hand embarassment
Just scared i won’t end up somewhere I’m happy but ig I’ll keep hoping…
And only letters
not at all
ur clearly very accomplished and it’s what you make of your experience not what’s given to you :)
Does this mean no scholarship too
thats mid
not necessarily i think
idk search it up
also why does it ask for second choice college when i got admitted for CS
I think it's talking about what college you would attend besides UMD
oh i see
i thought they were talking about the colleges within the uni lol
Is this bad if I just got into letters and no honors
I worked hard in hs
And got scammed and baited
By uni
How
Dude ur website in ur bio is insane
4.0, 1510 SAT
oh lmao
Dang
my grades are bad
UMD stats kinda crazy to
im 3.67/4.11
between 1340 to 1490 middle 50%
bruh that’s not low lmao
fr
low for umd cs apparently
LOW?
umd is on another level
oh
yes
i was about to say
WAIT
Intern with google before u even apply
what does that look like on the acceptance letter
at the bottom
how do we know
L&S
Wait they released scholarship and finaid?
i mean for like w/o finaid and scholarships
Oh
like the original tuition
Yeh umd is insane
Anyone still waiting on their UMD decision? I've been waiting on mine for like the past 2 hours
Just saw that I got in too
me
idk why they stalling
So far Penn State, Purdue, UMD, RUTGERS, Drexel, UDel and UIUC
Goddamn
Now waiting for a few big ones which wont come until late March
hey can anyone tell me how to check 💀
umd portal
did they come out yet
yes
Congrats to all ppl accepted :) feel free to dm w any questions abt the school
now that you mention it
i did apply with a 1480
lol
bruh
im fucking stupid then
uhhh can someone help bro 😭
cs is tough
anybody know cs admit rate?
i have the same issue can u dm?
I got rejected 😭
@dawn acorn did you end up getting in?
umd cs is like t20 it’s def competitive
yeah
like purdue level
perhaps better
its ranked better than purdue in cs rankings
was everyone who got accepted got invited to Carillon Communities.
sheesh
fucked em over fr
UMD underrated
lmao my portal is still empty 😭???
if i got into letters and sciences can i transfer into cs?
yes but im guessing it wont be easy
i looked it up online and their website says guaranteed if you meet certain criteria
but im not sure about that
was wondering if anyone who actually goes there knows
people said it isnt hard bc there isnt a limit to how many people can transfer into cs
so for all practical purposes should i just treat this like a cs acceptance?
applied test optional and got into umd. truly inspirational
no but I got scholars
what's the point of accepting us with undeclared if they know we are transferring into cs
bc that's what we applied for
yeah idk
umd is great for cs tho
well if you can apply to gender studies with a 900 SAT and transfer to CS thats not saying much
great
someone with 900 sat wont pass the gateway reqs tho
a minimum grade of a C-
i had a 1410 but accidentally applied test optional. is transferring into cs still feasible
rejected 😭
😑 😠 😡
u mean you need only a 2.7 gpa
3.81uw/15+ap's/1530 sat/pretty good ec's rejected oos cs 😭
so i get accepted directly into CS for the one school where people can just transfer in
im getting kinda worried for everything else now
cool
it doesnt and shouldnt downplay ur achievement
well i can only do so
i got rejected from everywhere else
this shit happened to me once and is gonna happen again
im so tired with this
u dont know that
i was but idk anymore
it has been a very humbling experience for me as well lmfao
50k/yr isnt very good
i thought id at least get here today but ig not xD
if it was t10 sure
UMD is p much up there for CS
georgia tech didnt even give me a chance
i literally performed my butt off first sem
and i wrote a great essay
bullshit
doing better than my ivy-admit peers
and cant even do shit
sure
felt
colleges really dont understand people
its actually sad
they just see a list of activities and numbers
thing is ill literally never know what it was
people are quantities and quotas
that made them say no
exactly
me but with uiuc
same with UIUC
same
i had good grades; my ecs are just dogshit
never had guidance
never knew their importance until like last year
my parents never went to hs here
same i think extracurricular failled me for uiuc
so they had no clue
i mean its good just not good enough for them
didnt know 30 hrs/week of ECs was even possible
someone's definitely inflating numbers
i dont lie
is a 3.81 gpa low for umd, and uiuc? i got rejected from both but i have really good rigor (15+ aps), so i'm not sure what went wrong
i also have pretty good ec's
no
none of mines went above 22
dang thats harsh dude
i have around 3.85 with 5 aps 10 de courses and got deferred uiuc reject umd
anything above 20 hrs/week is just absurd
school exists
homework exists
who has time for that shit
sorry i dont sell my soul for college
its not who i am
i only have one above 5
which is 20 hours exact per week bc i work as manager for family restaurant every week
makes sense
some weeks less but i work 40+ during the summer so
who hasn't received a decision until now T_T
the one A- I on my transcript was AP World
I spent hours a week studying
outlining, taking nots
I’m still waiting on mine
sad that all that work was for nothing
same
all mines are low 90's due to senioritis
well for senior yr
I'm really hoping for something good from UMD
i think a lot of ppl are still waiting prob intls too
Since I got rejected by Purdue, Gatech and UIUC and deferred from UW
Even though I had a 1520 SAT
well umd came out
@rose berry @bold ether what's listed as the application complete date on your portal?
wow that sucks
it definitely is
hw isnt really a big issue at some schools
consistently?
And like all A*s ( I take A-levels btw since I'm intl)
like i barely get any hw
31st Oct
when people have multiple ECs with 20+ hrs/week it makes me suspicious
Why?
1st Nov
My app's been marked as complete
yeah, but i would say its not like super dedicated 30+ hours, you still have free time and mess around
bruh
i call cap 30 hrs is like on the same level as attending school
exactly
free time isnt extracurricular hours
nah thats not really what im saying
what is the 30 hr per week extracurricular tho
for me it's work
but you guys are definitely underestimating just how much some kids do ecs for college purposes
if its work it makes sense
I also ended up writing 3 AP exams on my own outside my school syllabus and I spent like months studying and I got 2 5's and a 4 in AP Calc BC with a 5 subscore
i saw some kid say he was a developer of a game 25 hrs/week
I did all that work
like who spends that much time on a game
grass is outside
idk i spent like 15 hrs on studying math for a couple years
if anyone wrote something related to family matters, i could see that being 30 hr/week
since that's also a category in there
15hrs a week studying math
it was for math competitions
i need my decision arghh
Same
is it not out for u guys ea?
Either here or UMass
studying math isnt really an EC
that's studying on a diff level. hope u won some awards for the math comp
yep for some reason
yeah i did lol, made it to usamo
See I didn’t care or try in school and got in i spent my time volunteering
i mean theres no definition of ecs or not
like its what i did outside of school
so im gonna tell colleges about it
rather than EC, i'd say time commitments most of the time ye
what is letters and sciences major
i got it too, you can look at their website for more info
i applied engineering
You didn’t get officially into your first choice but you can reapply it seems
is that part of letters and sciences
but generally you can switch into most majors you want from letters and sciences
you basically can transfer anywhere
pretty much the same as admission to eng
i put studying for fbla so studying for math comp is valid. 15 hrs is just crazy to me not that i don't beleive if u feel what im saying
anyone else get in for aerospace engineering ?
i put badminton as ec 🤷♂️
the reason for this, is due to the pretty easy gpa to manage and classes u select
I have lacrosse, 2 internships, and President of a couple volunteering orgs
there are like hundreds of kids who study that amount of math or more in bay area
but what is my first year gonna look like
and yeah it is kinda crazy, like you don't really touch grass very often
the same as any other eng major
im still confused.
letters and sciences does not have engineering according to the website
yeah but you can transfer
yeah
also i got freshmen connection
so UMD OOS CS doesnt mean anything
whats that
noice
u should be able to still take the intro classes basically as another freshman might of that major, but the only trouble is prob registration or smth
My only one that went over 20 (all the rest were 2-6 and are split between my old school and current school so 10 ecs) was my job which at the time I was working 2 most days a week and just counted up the hours id have in a typical week although its really high some weeks and others could be like 4
Lads I got in maryland Cse
other explanation is that they had a bunch of summer hours and so they averaged it with during school hours
Oh my good
and with slight exaggeration you could get to multiple 20+ that way
nice
yall think umd is worth it, I applied cs but got into l&s on top of that im a spring admit
with oos tuiton
dont wanna be toxic, but i wanted to get into a good uni to make myself believe that my hard work was worth it
I would try looking on their subreddit to see if you can find any current student experiences with it
"Very selective"
those who got accepted for UMD, should really look into the CS dept and its job opportunities
Selectivity doesn’t reflect good
it's seriously a good school if u're going for CS
wait UMD Decisions are out?
or SWE
ASU is a good school and it’s 85%
please
Yes
but selectivity means you meet people who are smart
still havent got mine
I have one 25 and that was the club I dedicated my life to for 6 years
I had 5k hours because I literally always was there
No?
alright so some might not be out yet?
hw is a big factor in how much free time you have I'd say tho
yes
i imagine you still spend plenty of time on schoolwork and studying?
Homework? I just didn’t do it ever
oh
Is Maryland out
Only graded ones
You’re going to be extremely unhappy if you think that’s the only way to meet smart people
Sadly yes
well then you def have way more than 25 hours in a week if you didnt do hw
okay personal opinion but spring admit is KINDA COOL??
one of the only people to get outright rejected.
Well I also played varsity sports
yeah
ah that makes sense
I had a lot of random commitments
i imagine that was also a 10+ hour committment
Idk if it’s rolling. Maybe you just didn’t submit on time
yeah so 25 with ur club + 10 + internships + assorted ecs gets you to like 40+
Well then they
ahh yes because people who go to safeties are smart
Yes?
not sure how the graduation schedule would work on that, but it does seem p nice and you get to use that fall as an opportunity for whatevs
only like a minority
This is one of the dumbest takes I’ve heard
There are different kind of smarts
theres is not a concept of safety or not tho
The smartest person I know didn’t go to college
everyone has different safeties and targets
plus financial situation plays a big part
and just in general going to lower ranked schools doesnt equate to being not smart
but umd is like #16 anyway
There are:
- smart people who take safeties for money
- smart people who aren’t interested in ivies et al
- smart people who would rather stay close to home, which may not be a top school
- smart people who go to a school for fit, which isn’t always an ivy
- many more
well if that was the case then why isnt every college equally selective?
i really hope im one of them smart people
Because not everyone applies to every college equally for one
we r all smart ❤️
id rather be dumb with smarter people around me than vise versa
true
who says people at umd will be dumb tho???
Some get more applicants solely by location
Yeah
they wont be
like ucla gets a shit ton of applications
Anyone know what UMD business hours are for their email
Or you can just join freshman connection and graduate on time
Like specifically admissions
that too ye
did u get in
Not really a thing but I’d assume they check it during business hours
yeah
no i got into l and s
Maybe a bit extra today since decisions released
i got the carrilon thing
I can’t find those tho
idk what that means tho
I emailed them at like 5:30 so wanted to know if they do weekends for emails since that’s different from calls
i just find the admissions process to be super ironic
yeah i suppose so but theres only so much aos can learn about you from ur application
people can make themselves look all pretty and perfect in that snapshot
r u happy
for decision
others just suck at it
By this it would make sense that not everyone whose smart ends up at the same place then
yeah i am, seems like its easy to switch into cs. that was my only concern with getting l and s so i'd say im pretty happy with ti
there isnt really any reason to complain tho everyone goes through the same process with apps so
but its obviously correlative
i got in the same way as u just a different program
Well AOs also aren’t always the best
letters but invited to something else as well which idk
There might be more smart people, but your original point was more along the lines of never meeting anyone smart
yea pass 3 courses w a c- and ur in
everyone doing cs lol
i have the ap cs and calc credits so do i just take 1 course and transfer in lmao
UMD CS is craazzyy
seems so extra to make me pass just 1 course but sure ill do it lol
never is extreme
it just lower supply ig
whats credits specificlally
nice same here, not sure tho
less people
how fast can u transfer to cs officially
u could prob just squish in gen eds or smth
true but i feel a lot r going into cs j for the hype
probably 2 semesters
yeah ofc im not just gonna take 1 class but like just let me transfer from the start
i think you can do it faster than that
what nah
u just need classes tho
so no restriction??? idk
unless theyre prereqs to to the gateway courses
no there cant be
that is a thought that has been resonating with many, me personally i just like math and computers
same
so its prolly just those 3 courses than
No
or nah
So why have I not gotten my decision yet?
Prolly not
why not
What are they doing
idk im a little glad that i got into the spring sem but l&s is kind of a bummer, wanted a cs direct admit
But I doubt you’d get it without at least a semester wait
yeah but it doesnt really seem to matter much does it? as far as I've read online it makes no real difference other than just some added hassle
yea pretty much, i was looking it up online and they hav a program where u can complete 17 credit hours in the fall as a spring admit
im guessing i could just take those 3 classes and switch to cs in the spring
Same. Never knew carrilon communities existed lol
whats CIVICUS program
why does umd have 80 diff programs 😭😭
I STILL haven’t gotten anything
I’m calling them on Monday to complain
It might be because they emailed me in mid November threatening to move me to RD because of a transcript issue, but they told me it had been settled over the phone at the time
Their crappy portal doesn’t even say which round of admission I’m in breh
I got an email from umd and hour ago, asking about my IELTS TRF number
i think they couldn't verify my scores yet
and so hadn't released a decision until now
to every intl who hasn't received a decision, i recommend mailing them about your English proficiency score report
Well they DID say by Feb 1st
oh probably
did they give out scholarships in the umd emails?
or do they notify you later?
how do i view my financial aid package
oh darn
oh ok
I got absolutely railed by other cs schools today but umd came through 🙏
same
what were ur guys stats
but probably not going
4.0 gpa 1510 SAT (submitted 1480 at the time)
4.0 1450
3.8 uw/4.6 w, 1580 sat
damn
major?
intended CS got lts
oh
4.0 uw/4.7 w 35 act
yeah
sheesh
u going to umd or nah
probably bc i got in state tuition
and i got rejected or deferred by everything else tonight
yeah same
feels bad
i got rejected from gt, unc, and uiuc. I postponed by umich but that was like guaranteed
kinda pissed about gt
that was my top choice
uiuc rejected and gt deferred for me
i didnt have the craziest stats but dang
i had good stats for gt
they shouldve at least deferred
ik my ecs were shit but like still
come on
i had okay ecs idk what happened
apparenrlty nobody from my hs has gone to umd since 2012
LOL
if i had better ECs i wouldve gotten accepted
they probably knew i had good stats
they just knew i couldnt compensate
whatever tho
kids spending 70k/yr anyways
talking about gt btw
but UMD pretty expensive
thats why idk if i can afford it
3.87 UW (8 APs, 2 Honors) 1470 SAT (670 R, 800 M)
nice
4.3 test optional lmfao
OOS CS - 1520 (800M, 720R), 3.93 UW, 4.3 W, 10 APs, 3 Honors, 5 DE
oos 4.0 1430 got L&S
i wonder what the acceptance rate for cs was
probably like 20%
doesnt really matter cuz transferring into cs is pretty easy
OOS 3.7UW 4.3W 1530
yall are crazy fr
My friends all have better GPAs than me 😭
ur SAT good tho
This server has made me feel like my 4 years of grueling work to get the grades I have was worthless how tf does everyone have over 1500 sat
3.98 1550 3x aime qual
everyone in here is a tryhard lmao
this is not a representative sample of college applicants
4.0 uw 1570
true
i mean tbf this whole server is 4 tryhards so the data gon be skewed
i j joined to see if umd was gon come out 😭 i got mediocre stats
Is OOS CS acceptance rate for UMD very low?
yes
its just the vocal people a lot of people lower than the either dont feel the need to talk about it or feel intimidated about it
i had a 1280
I had a 30 on my act at one point. Not everyone here is a genius/robot test taker
I started out even lower actually
any estimates?
I got accepted for spring because of “space limitations” 😭😭
cuz it aint dat hard
not that deep either
i mean for a lot off ppl the math section is free
and with practice the english section becomes doable
there are transfer programs (as long as you have the requisite classes + an okay gpa you can transfer)
apparently they have some weird direct admit system thing yea
like on the acceptance letter
assuming thats what ur talking about
what % of the school takes CS
damn nice
wont they make it harder tho
to transfer in
if its so ez and everyone does cs
i think its like a 3.0 and B or higher in sum math/cs pre reqs
have u seen cmu's cs transfer reqs 💀
absolutely brutal
u need a 3.6 gpa in 6 classes to even be considered
and a 3.6 gpa at cmu is extremely grueling
4 A's and 2 B's
oh it looks like u get in w just that
i thought there was sum application process afterwards
but still a 3.6 at cmu is no cakewalk
i think for penn's wharton school they do
bc everyone tries to transfer into there
and berkeley is not longer allowing anyone to switch to cs anymore
I still didn't receive my EA decision :(
thats tuff damn 😦
its bc everyone was trying to transfer
nah but practically speaking, if someone's good enough for umd cs, they'd have the stats/ecs from HS or whatever to back it up
and the department loses money every yr because of the excess amount of students taking it
i see
so idt they need to worry about random ppl transferring into CS
idk if that makes sense but yea
its a diff story fs if you didnt get direct admit to begin with, but ur entire profile is centered around CS tho
i mean like for gender studies 1300 like u said lol
for example
seemed like there were more l&s acceptances this year
😮💨 same
im curious
what does the acceptance letter look like
for CS non direct admit
i just wanna understand the diffs
Should I email them?
did u check ur application checklist to make sure they got everything?
wait thats smth else??
like a special group thing - it's giving honors college
Yup it says my checklist is complete
and everything was submitted before the 1st of november?
ok apparently its a waste of time
It says my application complete date is 30 October, so i guess yeah
ok email them
did you send them your eng proficiency scores (if you're an intl requiring that) through a testing agency?
No, I think I self reported
you need to send them official scores
or they cannot release a decision
im in a similar situation, except i sent them in november and they couldn't verify them
Oh shoot
Thanks for letting me know
why was my application marked as complete then 😭
so you've been deferred?
no i haven't received anything on my portal lol
i got an email from them in morning, so i hope i get in early
be sure to mention your test report code (like the ielts trf) when you're emailing them
Did everyone receive their decisions?
i got my decision
are you related to henrikh mkhitaryan btw
Yeah he is my uncle
Did you get an email when they released the decisions?
If they reply please mention me
fr?
Yeah
Can you show how does it look like
I can't understand if it's there😭 I hate their portal
looks like this
Thanks
So I didn't get it😪
Pro tip: don’t reveal your full name and email on large public servers
are there admitted student days/visits for umd that'll be announced soon?
i didn't get a chance to tour umd before applying
i was looking at their tours but they're all geared towards applicants 😭
what specifically about campus stuff?
i don't know much about anything 🥲
like do u pick dorm and place cause it says i got into a civicu program but i dont want to be part of it like it shouldnt be required right if its an inivtiation
ohh yeah i have no idea
what program u get into
cs!
oh nice i meant like honors college, specific invitation ?
ohh no lol i didn't get into the honors college
have u taken ap cs a , ap calc ab and bc ?
yupp but i didnt do calc ab, i just went straight to bc
ohh that should be okay though, i heard its easy to transfer into cs once ur there
yeah thx i hope everything goes smooth ill prob take csmc 131 in summer i have calc credits so hopefully quick transfer
or do ap cs
Maryland plays too many games
It’s not required
You must go to a goated school because mine does not look similar
The night classes for fall aren’t a bad idea
Wait how cause I don’t get why it would be a positive
Huh
Transferring into UMD CS is easy so it means it isn’t competitive
Still a hard and well ranked program
well i heard staying in cs at umd is insanely hard
theres a reason most of the upper level classes don't have a lot of people
That’s like saying well at Yale you can transfer majors easily therefore it’s not good
fr
Well Yale is inherently selective
guessing from last year im thinking the acceptance rate or ea dropped from 36%
The transfer rate outside of L&S to CS is probably so low it doesn’t matter
You really think a program should be discredited because some art students realize they’d rather do CS and do the work to get there
Wdym
L&S acceptance rate is pretty damn low
fr
That’s CS and other sciences
typically people who don't get direct get into l&s
but there was a lot of people who jus werent admitted to l&s
Fs
high stat people
If a 2.7 gpa is a hard feat for getting a transfer then CS is inherently difficult
I don’t think that would be pleasurable
Also UMD starting salary is quite low for CS in respect to other schools
That’s true, but I have enough credits that I’d prob do a 5 year Masters in 4 if I can
Although I’d rather not go to UMD they are a mess clerically it seems
i believe they have picker class that make a lot of people dropout during freshmen or sophomore year
idk if they're called that
Also Yachty dropped AOTY hands down
i should def listen to that
i heard good things bout it online
Very very very good
If you want something smooth it’s tremendous
Nothing like anything he’s ever done
thats tuff
Source?
Still haven’t got my decision
im pretty sure aid comes out later in feb
same some said its rolling
Yeah UMD seems just as competitive as comparable schools idk what that guy was talking ab
Proximity to DC helps
for college resumes do u put high school GPA?
uiuc has higher salaries than gtech💀
I mean it is ranked higher
It seems to be correlative not with cs ranking but overall prestige
les goo
UMD has good prestige nonetheless
ye UMD is rly good for cs
fr? prestige
and engineering
ik cs but generally no right
huh?
Nah it’s pretty good
u think its worth to go to duke over umd
depends on $
$70 k duke - $30 k umd
prolly a tier below the top schools but you'll have a lot of opportunities to succeed from umd
just not as well known
which doesnt matter much
i havent even gotten it but by the slightest chance idk if its worth
Middle 50% was 1340-1490
but i like duke alot
…can you pay the 40k extra for duke feasibly or would there be loans?
For SAT
loans fs
duke easily
0 prestige btw
thats good presite lmao
So CS at UMD you want 1450+
??? That's an additional $160k in debt
i love duke tho
What major?
cs
OH hold up did you get directly into CS at UMD?
NOOO
ah
letters
ik but if ur only 2 options are duke and umd, i would say its worth it if ur studying a high paying field. depends on ur financial situation tho. umd in state is also prolly better than duke, idk about oos tho
Only problem with UMD is that it’s like 60k/yr
hm duke seems nice tho
its 30 k for me
is uva better for u in that case
I got in directly
Just an fyi^
Yeah
That's for if you took on the additional $160k in debt (presumably) for Duke over UMD
30k is a steal for CS…..@grim tusk is right that loans will take years to pay off
Yep talk with your parents
but wouldnt i get hopefully hooked for a good job and can pay crazy fast tho like MAANG companies
Right 😭
would u consider a loan or no
That doesn't correlate exactly, but yeah, interest rates aren't going lower
depends on the amount
umd price ?
Most everyone in here is going to have some form of loan. But there's a big difference between like 15k in loans and 160k in loans
r u paying by urself
Nah
Honestly cs recruiters probably have strong umd connections but I don’t know too much about duke, I wouldn’t make the decision just yet
240k will turn into 300k in loans
true i havent even gotten accepted just hypothetical
oh then hold on put
cant u pay than in 5 years in cs field
with the layoffs rn i wouldnt be too hopeful lmao, but hopefully itll go back up once we start working hehe
with good job
I mean, if you live at home and have zero expenses
Generally you don’t want a loan higher than ur starting salary
Lyrics is right
ohhhh
also for umd vs duke i imagine their culture is very different as well so look into which one you think would be a better environment for you
Especially with the recession
true ill see about this all
Right it’s very different
I mean... did you talk about financials with your parents...?
job security has always been difficult for fresh out of college grads
im glad i have umd in the back of my mind
yeah their not sure yet but they like duke and umd a lot and umd cause instate
i liek duke more tho
UMD is chill
Yeah but have you talked to them ab how much money they'd be willing to give you?
like little bot
Well I applied for aid
mostly need to take loan
Do you qualify for aid?
no
You can try to log into the financial aid portal
i dont think so
umd s?
Yes
they have that rn
anyone have the link for umd portal?
i dont think u can see it tho
I’m logged in yesterday
idk why it's not working for me now
check ur emial or google it
what does it say
do u have the proper link
Yeah, you may want to consider staying instate. Otherwise you'll be saddled with a stupid amount of debt above what you already may be
It doesn’t have any info for financial aid yet
Considering you don't qualify for aid and your parents won't be paying much
duke only has 6.7 acc rate
