#Give huge boosts to new players

If you sign up for EVE, you don't start at level 1 and no skills. The game gives you quite a starting boost, because "level 1 and no skills" would be utterly unrealistic and have too long of a ramp-up before you could have fun with veteran players. MOE has reached a point where it needs to do the same thing. I'd suggest something like:

  • New players get a 10x XP boost all the way from 1-60.
  • New players get a large number of skill points to distribute -- enough that they could put 800 into a weapon skill, an armor skill, and physique. (Or however they want to do it. They could start with 900 in a weapon skill but have that much less to put into armor or physique.)

This game NEEDS new people. Having them start at level 1 and 0 skill is unrealistic and few if any newcomers will even make it to veteran status at this point, or get to have any kind of PvP fun.

they already implemented a version of this in multiple ways

I believe the biggest issue is combat proficiency gain. The way the playerbase has to cheese with NPCs is lame. I think if they would make changes to it, similiar to how season works, the game will be more approachable for more players.

#

I would also imagine survival games all go through this "valley of death" until they find their marketspace.

Entirely insufficient ways. It's not enough to attract (or keep) new players in the official servers at this stage. It's been getting worse. It's easy to find completely empty servers in prime time now. No one at all logged into them. Most are <10 simultaneous players. It's not sustainable. Tbh i think it's too late.

but you think eve is better than this game this game gives u like a huge boost till average level where eve after u use up all the skill points ur still 2 years away from real pvp

#

@weak lark

#

this game u will be max level in 1 year

#

the problem is ammount of servers not how fast you level

weak lark
#

Eve has starter pvp. You don't have to go straight to nullsec. In this game, "average" is very weak still. Frankly we could start all newbies with 900 combat skills and they'll still lose until they get the books, but they might at least have fun, and stay. Those books are sizable bumps. People aren't staying to be curbstomped for months. Combining servers will just be a bandaid. It'll be the same situation 2-3 weeks after merges.

you keep trying to compare eve and im telling u there is no Matchmakking in eve if ur talking about factional warefare good luck going gate to gate while high levels are camping gates if ur a low level frig going into a small frig capping spot a guy with max skills will out play you every time or u get zerged. I been playing for years and factional warefare wasnt always a thing it took them YEARS AND YEARS to implement that. this game has not been out that long.

#

low sec is more dangerous than null sec for sure actually safer in null sec for me on my mining alt.

#

@weak lark

#

@weak lark Also eve has a WAY bigger team and much much more players they are on a diffrent level. Honestly ur not being fair comparing the 2

weak lark

The point is moot. If you can't bring in new players, then you're losing population until the game is dead. My suggestion was pretty simple and could likely be implemented in a day. There are other solutions. Bottom line, game needs a way to attract new players, and retain them for more than a week or two.

spiral stone
#

no cant be implemented in a day thats not how developers do things they build a roadmap. I agree the game needs to retain new players. But a mmo i play called wurm has a total of 5000 players in the entire game but max 700 online at anygivin time. They have passed the test of time meaning they have mantained their player base for like 15 years and they are just now (still not done) deciding to put things in for new players things take time but ppl thinking this game is gonna be fixed within a year is LAUGHABLE try 5 years

spiral stone
#

FYI if this game gets any easier I quit

weak lark
#

You're talking about content. What I'm suggesting can be done in a day because the interface already exists: adding skill points. Combining servers buys veterans more time but does nothing to address new player retention. This is a great game at max, but has no room for new players. Pretty sure you're gonna quit anyway. Not much to do when veterans leave and nobody replaces them.

Fyi im a new player seasoned pvp player in almost every mmorpg and im fine i just need more engagement. No mmo ever has been easy to play as a new player in pvp this is why the pvp community is a small one.

#

if u want a game where u have more of a chance killing a player thats been playing longer albion system is the best for that because strenght is in armour not skills

#

and nobody wants to lose expensive gear

#

as long as skills revovle around the player themselves u need NUMBERS vs skills. also goes back to my point of makeing less servers

Gear in this game is cheap unless you insist on orange quality. Especially for noobs it's cheap because at their level "good gear" is a waste of time. Problem is its so lopsided, they can't have fun with pvp at all, so they quit. The promise of fun if they grind for 2 months is too weak to hold them. Anyone who missed the fun of day 1 starts has missed this game. Seasonal servers could salvage the game as a whole, but does nothing for existing non-seasonal servers.

spiral stone
#

yea i can tell your upset about how long it takes to grind but lets not forget this is a mmorpg. Fast skilling to me is a nono role playing game meaning ur roleplaying ur not playing esports. So being strong in like a week it wouldnt be a MMORPG.

Is this an MMORPG?

#

I feel there are a lot of systems in place in this game, that force players away. Typically MMOs try to keep player playing.

#

Its a multiplayer action survival game with 100 players max on a server

This is not an MMO. This game does not support 100 players. This game doesn't even support 10 players. Because the developers are stingy, when in the server online goes down, they transfer the server to weak systems and the game laging anyway.

honestly wurm is the same way but still considerd a mmo IK they try to classify this game as a survival but everything about it resembles a mmo including servers becasue thats what u play on most of the time in mmos just most dont have to exit to a lobby u just move to another area so its basicly the same thing

Honestly, EVE is an MMORPG, very different to an open-world survival game. I feel the current system is sufficiant. TBH, i was worried at first when i saw Lvl 60 was Max and i was Lvl 10 in like 20-30 minutes. Most people that play these kind of games want the grind, want the leveling, want to earn what they got. I honestly would have left the game if i was Maxed out in less than a day.

Do you mean harvesting or weapon proficiency? Or both? Leveling mining to 900 is my biggest dread in this game lol. Granted range training is kinda booty too since there are no exploits that compare to melee proficiency npc boxes lol. Lumber is pretty easy, just need a balloon on old map with saws and hit grass. Planting is really easy with coin, just harvest a couple of premium fields harvest quality doesn't matter. Hunting can at least be done afk on a fishing pond.. will take a long time but afk at least. Mining.. all you can do is slap stuff with a stone hammer lol

How about old characters that havent reached to that point ? If that is applied, it should apply to old characters that havent reached that point.

There are many melee weapons, and many ranged weapons if we want to maximize everything, because several high proficiencies in a group like melee will further boost damage with Strength stats and high proficiencies in ranged group will further boost damage with dex stats and so on.

So all that cheesing and boring methods are multiplied several times, making it takes too long to maximize all. There is also rank which is a different stat boost.

This is why I move to pve server and only aim for my own char progression because pvp rules is too restricting for me on top of internal conflict, I cannot freely use crafting stations because they're always queued by the guild, I cannot freely build because it will add the weekly maintenance tribute, etc. The game imo is kinda conflicting between personal and guild matters.

i play games where u dont reach the end until 5-10 years later stop complaining eve osrs. took me 3 days to build a 4 tile house my first day on wurm. Ur preaching to the quire ppl who play mmos are used to it and want the grind this game hasent even been out for americans that long and ppl already complaining ive seen a TON of ppl at max level including the wepon skill grind i got like 400 in 2 days hardly trying. try 13 hour grinds for 6 months THEN complain

I was coming back to respond to your comment but looks like people already said what I would've said lol. I am not preaching to your "quire" lmfao. I can already tell that you are someone who likes to waste their own time, so I won't bother going any further with this.

spiral stone

i played in every server @untold obsidian ok so 2 years if that honestly not along time for a game like this AT ALL and 90% of ppl who logged in 6 months ago is probably almost done with skills. Ik i will be. as easy as this game is. im smart enough to know enough if u feel like ur wasting time play a NON grinding game because games this is built for grind and they are really being good about it in my opinion. I'm curious what's the diffrence from wurm and this they are both the same thing im not talking about wurm im talking about sandbox games like this one. That survival craft bs is advertisment to get ppl to believe they arnt playing a mmo because alot of people are anti. All of these games preform the same way. Its a joke honestly when ppl keep saying survival craft like ik ppl arnt that dum. Sales tatic to reach a larger audience but look what happened back to same ole numbers as most mmos because only a certain group plays these kinds of games.

#

Most ppl think the same ya know ppl familer with mmos.
