I'll come back to this once I've finished but so far it's embarrassing. A talented lawyer who is the brains of her team, struggles with the morality of fighting for the bad guys and doesn't like working behind the scenes/not being front and center/not getting the credit she deserves, is kidnapped by a cartel leader and asked to work out the logistics of him transitioning?
Maybe it makes sense later on but none of her early character establishment (?) makes sense why she'd be chosen. It's got nothing to do with being a good lawyer, there's nothing morally dubious about it (maybe it's just that he's a bad guy, but they don't say any bad things he's done or anything) and there's nothing about her getting credit for her work

Ok finished it, could've actually been good if it'd tried to do less, she didn't need to be an ex cartel member really, she didn't need to set up her NGO. The final standoff/climax of the whole film, with her coming clean to her (ex) wife would've been far more satisfying if they'd focused on her character more
