Plex Watchlist - Auto-request

Hi Support,

Regarding the auto-request feature for Plex and Sonarr/Radarr, Is this feature intended to work fully automatically once a movie or show is added to the Plex Watchlist?

I have the Watchlist syncing correctly and everything appears to be connected, but the auto-request itself isn't triggering, even with the proper permissions selected.

Did you enable the auto watchlists options per user?

No per user, but under the user setting, for all users.

If users lists aren’t working, have them log out and back in. iirc after enabling the watch list that needs to be done.

The watchlist sync is working fine, it was just the requesting.

Good morning! I am also having an issue where my plex watchlist sync is working fine. However, the autorequest is not working.

I have confirmed that my auto request from watchlist is enabled.

I also by default have the auto approve movies/shows.

Any ideas?

Its really just me for now. I have logged in and logged in with Plex. My watchlist is syncing they are just not auto requesting.

I looked in my logs for errors and I saw some odd things. I dont see anything pertaining to watchlist at all when I search logs. I am seeing this error "An admin is not configured." I am the Owner/Admin not sure if that would cause the issue.

Oh your admin is broken i think

Easy fix

Stop seerr

Backup settings.json

Delete settings.json

And restart

Youll get greeted with setup wizard don't worry your data is intact

Just select plex, login. No need to configure radarr/sonarr and when you reach dashboard your owner account should be fixed

Then you can either stop seerr and repaste your backed up settings.json back or you can just reset up services too

ok, So i followed those instructions and went through the orginal document that you sent. I do not see any more admin errors. I am still able to sync my watchlist, items arenot being requested though.

I am running this off of "Container Manager"(docker) on a Synology device. Not sure if that matters or not.

Youll need to run settings > jobs&cache > Watchlistsync and send logs

Change mediaServerType to 1

And restart

Sweet update! Mine Plex Watchlist is syncing but only on my account. Is there something special I have to do with imported plex users? I have permissions under Users > Permissions set and Settings > Users > Permissions set. What am I missing?

They need to login once to update their plex token

I just had them relog in and I don't think that changed anything.

Then go to settings > jobs&cache

And run watcglist sync

Also make sure All the prerequisites are met.

Then send the logs after running the job

Without logs we really cant tell whats happening. We cant even guess as we or no one else can reproduce what youre experiencing rn 😔

How is it even possible to add movies to the Plex watchlist that aren't in the library yet (and that aren't placeholders)? Sorry, I must be missing something

Plex offers discover option

Where you can discover movies that are not in your library

And wishlist them

Thats what plex watchlist is for.

I apologize. How do I give you my logs. I have logs from /app/config/logs but do I need to turn on debug or something because this doesn't look too useful?

You need to set LOG_LEVEL=debug in env variables

And rerun the sync

Watchlist sync is broken on overseerr

And overseerr is deprecated.

Oh I see. Since the update a couple days ago, the Watchlist synce started working for my owner account so I assumed it might have been fixed there.

Overseerr develop had 1 part of the fix

Overseerr update was released

Only to

Deprecate

And tell users to migrate

Full fix does not exist in overseerr

So just tossing this here (will make a new thread if that is better) I had set up watchlist sync in Overseerr and it didn't work (neither here nor there but the settings were "correct") and i did the upgrade to seerr. Once that finished i got bombarded with requests. I wasn't sure where they were coming from, but they match up with the enabled users watchlists. I have tagging turned on for requests, and all these new additions are showing up as my user (#1) Is that expected behavior? Should the added items show up in Requests? My issue is if i remove the item from sonarr it just gets readded. I cannot find a request in Seerr to delete to make it stop requesting

There is a bug in seerr in current version where even if you stop auto request due to a logic bypass it keeps requesting. The fix for this currently lives in develop and will be available next version which will be released promptly
