For some reason sonarr and Radarr keep timing out, the log file show little to no info just saying that the request timed out

2026-02-14T19:51:39.528Z [error][Radarr]: [Radarr] Failed to retrieve root folders: timeout of 5000ms exceeded

Hi. Just provide me with the full setup details and we can troubleshoot

knotty hamlet
#

Using synology NAS, no compose just used the GUI to set up the contaier, its using old settings from the Overserr days so all worked perfect untill it started crashing last night with the migration error thing, I scrubbed the DB and just restarted the contaner, but noticed that sonarr and radarr popped up in the log fil (viewed via Dozzle) and wondered why.

#

Sonarr and Radarr are running on my Windows Machine and have not had issues before.

#

I I have also noticed that nothing is poping in the *arr's logs for the same timestamps.
Seerr is using the same network its always used, only thing thats been added was pi-hole about a week ago, otherwise its been the same setup I have run for 8 years now

#

Hi sorry for the late reply. Dealing with all the spam 💀

#

How are you connecting to the arrs

#

Thats the information I need

#

So we can do troubleshooting steps

knotty hamlet
#

Local ip address, the container is using the bridge network interface (so can see outside world)

unborn ridge
#

Wait

#

Are you able to open a host shell?

#

Ssh into it is also fine

knotty hamlet
#

umm yeah

unborn ridge
#

Okay so run

#

docker exec -it seerr sh

#

Then apk update && apk add curl

#

Then run

#

curl -L http://yourradarrip:7878

#

Show me output

knotty hamlet
#

~$ docker exec -it seerr sh
permission denied while trying to connect to the Docker daemon socket at unix:///var/run/docker.sock: Get "http://%2Fvar%2Frun%2Fdocker.sock/v1.24/containers/seerr/json": dial unix /var/run/docker.sock: connect: permission denied

lol

knotty hamlet
#

Ok, can we put a pin in it for a bit, I have to get ready for work will ping when home and free 😄

unborn ridge
knotty hamlet
#

Not at my machine but did have a realisation, sherry is defaulting to 5000ms for time out, but due to the size of my dB for both *arr's, when I open them normally it will take a good 3-5mins to load.
Could this be a factor?
I will however run the other command when home tomorrow 👍

#

Ok I ran it for both Sonarr and Radarr

/app # curl -o /dev/null -s -w
'connect=%{time_connect}s ttfb=%{time_starttransfer}s total=%{time_total}s\n'

http://**************
connect=0.001665s ttfb=0.021135s total=0.021244s
/app # curl -o /dev/null -s -w
'connect=%{time_connect}s ttfb=%{time_starttransfer}s total=%{time_total}s\n'

http://************
connect=0.003119s ttfb=0.023133s total=0.023235s

I'm having the same issue, but only with Radarr, sonarr works as usual. I just migrated from Overseerr to Seerr. Everything is running in docker on a ubuntu vm running in proxmox

unborn ridge
#

Please pull in new :develop

#

And test

#

We just increased the timeout

#

@patent sun @knotty hamlet

patent sun

doing that now

same issue. it definitelty adds the movie though

unborn ridge
patent sun
#

Is this a matter of too many movies?

unborn ridge
#

This is a matter of your hardware probably

#

Where the radarr db is located

#

We are checking to see if right move is to add.more ms

#

Or

#

Let me push a preview

patent sun
#

it's all on ssd storage, intel 46xx enterprise drives in 2x4 raidz mirrors

unborn ridge
#

Can test?

unborn ridge
patent sun
#

I'm connecting to radarr through its internal IP, everything is on the same network

unborn ridge
#

specific to your network

#

let me increase the timeout more

patent sun
#

I can test

unborn ridge
#

try preview-servarr-timeout-increase-more in about 10 mins

patent sun
#

I'm getting the same error

#

{

unborn ridge
#

I just increased it to 60,000

#

Are you sure youre running the preview?

unborn ridge
patent sun
#

preview-servarr-timeout-increase-more is the tag I used

#

I can trying pulling it again

unborn ridge
#

And show me tbe commit

#

HAHAHAH my bad

Version

unborn ridge
#

I forgot to commit it before pushing

#

Thats still the old 10s one

#

Hold on let me repush

patent sun
#

10-4

unborn ridge
#

once this finishes you can pull in

patent sun
#

Got it

patent sun
#

No more error

unborn ridge
#

I wanna see if this is related to a specific image. Someone reported that they had networking issues on a specific image

#

And then they had to restart sonarr/radarr

patent sun
#

I'm a monster and didn't use compose when I originally set them up

unborn ridge
patent sun
#

is there something particular you're looking for?

unborn ridge
#

docker inspect radarr

#

And send full output

#

Something is off about the docker network that it takes minimum 60s to return

patent sun
knotty hamlet
#

Sorry for the delay been a long weekend at work lol.

#

Still timing out, but I havn't pulled the update down so will test it later 😄

unborn ridge
knotty hamlet
#

Ok image pulled and it seems to work ok, getting an out of date warning but the extended timeout is working sofar

unborn ridge
knotty hamlet
#

want me to stay on this image or move back over and just wait it out for a normal push?

unborn ridge
knotty hamlet
#

oh ok, was only wondering cos obviously this build wont be the one that gets new pushes etc moving forward, but if I move back while I know it will time out I assume that down the road the extra time will be added to the latest branch?

knotty hamlet
#

cool, thank you so much for your help and look forward to future updates and features 😄

would any of you mind running @knotty hamlet @patent sun

curl -o /dev/null -s -w 'connect=%{time_connect}s ttfb=%{time_starttransfer}s total=%{time_total}s\n' \
  'http://IP:PORT/api/v3/system/status?apikey=YOUR_API_KEY'

curl -o /dev/null -s -w 'connect=%{time_connect}s ttfb=%{time_starttransfer}s total=%{time_total}s\n' \
  'http://IP:PORT/api/v3/rootfolder?apikey=YOUR_API_KEY'

curl -o /dev/null -s -w 'connect=%{time_connect}s ttfb=%{time_starttransfer}s total=%{time_total}s\n' \
  'http://IP:PORT/api/v3/qualityProfile?apikey=YOUR_API_KEY'

replace IP:PORT with your radarr AND Sonarr (need both) and replaced YOUR_API_KEY with your api key. run this in the seerr container by docker exec -it -u 0 seerr sh and apk update && apk add curl then use the curls

sage briar
#

@knotty hamlet you hit the rootfolder one for sure, so if you could run that one for sure.

patent sun
#

@unborn ridge I ran it for Radarr
connect=0.000000s ttfb=0.000000s total=0.000020s
connect=0.000000s ttfb=0.000000s total=0.000011s

#

connect=0.000000s ttfb=0.000000s total=0.000023s

#

@rough wing No external auth, I don't expose radarr or sonarr

#

and here is sonarr
connect=0.000000s ttfb=0.000000s total=0.000017s
connect=0.000000s ttfb=0.000000s total=0.000012s
connect=0.000000s ttfb=0.000000s total=0.000011s

patent sun
#

ohh duh, I just use plex login

rough wing
#

does this happen when accessing seerr via ip:port?

#

assuming you use a domain for seerr

patent sun
#

disregard the sonarr number, I forgot to change my api-key from my radarr key, these are the correct outputs
connect=0.000000s ttfb=0.000000s total=0.000030s
connect=0.000000s ttfb=0.000000s total=0.000012s
connect=0.000000s ttfb=0.000000s total=0.000018s

#

I was using ip:port when this was happening, I can try my domain as well, that routes through reverse proxy with nginx

rough wing
#

but those times are perfectly fine..

Hi everyone, apologies for butting in so late, but I'm experiencing this issue also. Running latest Docker Container verson of Seerr, Radarr and Sonarr. Neither Radarr or Sonarr can be setup, and I've narrowed it down to the qualityProflile API Endpoint - it never resolves. On my other contains this endpoint works like a charm, however specifically on Seerr's container, the HTTP request just hangs forever and never resolves.

unborn ridge
#

In settings > network

#

Change it to 30 s maybe.

icy stirrup
#

I’m not sure that would be the solution, as when I use curl in the container, a response never arrives (I left it for like 5mins and nothing)

#

And on other containers and my own PC I get a response in less than a second.

unborn ridge
#

I need to see your compose for seerr and sonarr/radarr

#

It just means the docker networking isn't allowing. Easy fix but I need compose

icy stirrup
#

The container can hit the system status endpoints and root folder endpoints though… and it can ping the radarr container.

I’m using unraid to run all this, with some VLANs separating Jellyfin/seerr and radarr/sonarr/qbittorrent

#

It is JUST the quality profiles it doesn’t resolve on

#

And my firewall is allowing traffic between said VLANs.

unborn ridge
#

I can try to help troubleshoot

#

But after my flight

icy stirrup
#

Yea it is quite odd. Can I ask what OS the container is based on? Or what distro?

#

Even Claude gave up on me lol

unborn ridge
#

But that shouldnt matter really

#

Maybe you could try a different image

#

Third party images use different ones

#

Try maybe hotio or binhex

icy stirrup
#

I have tried binhex too, no luck and the same issue.

#

I’ll give hotio a try too.

#

Radarrs logs indicate that it’s receiving the request and returning an OK response, but the other container doesn’t receive it..
