First off I'm new to all of this so excuse me if I say things wrong.
So I am following a guide on how to reverse proxy and everything and that's going great however if I can access this site, can't everyone?
I want my family to be able to use overseerr from different places. If I am correct it just sends me to the sign in page of Overseerr but everyone who finds this site can sign in and use it. Right?
#Is my hosting site "open"?

From my understanding, no one should be able to sign in unless they're a defined user of your Overseerr setup — so either folks with access to your Plex server or local users you've created. The site is public, so anyone can find it — but not everyone should be able to sign in and use it.
No problem!
If you're looking for some more info on how to assign users/allow them access, there is some good stuff in the doc https://docs.overseerr.dev/using-overseerr/users
oh thats great
