#Reverse Proxy using Nginx and Cloudflare

Hi all! Looking for some help setting up a reverse proxy for folks to access Overseerr externally.

I was following the guide others have shared by Raid Owl (https://youtu.be/GarMdDTAZJo), and for the most part it was going very smoothly -- the only issue is now that I've run though all the steps and "finished" I'm at a bit of a loss as it's not working.

The first issue I was having is that with Nginx PM and Cloudflare all set up, the domain I configured was just getting a connection time out with a 522 error. I think it may have something to do with my public IP being wonky, as that's also taking too long to respond at the moment - but I'm lost on that end as well.

I tried a restart with blind hope, and that resolved nothing and also seems to have stopped Nginx PM from being able to connect, although it started up in Docker without issue.

For context, I'm running everything on a Mac OS, using Docker and Docker Desktop for Overseerr and Nginx PM. If it's not obvious, all of this is definitely not my strong suite - although I'm doing my best to learn. Any help would be much appreciated!

Once you have your fresh new home server setup you'll definitely want to host some cool stuff. Let's make sure you're hosting it the safe way...and luckily its also the easy way.

Okay, this was proving to be a little to much for me, and while I was a little loathe to give up - after reading enough post mentioning Cloudflare tunnelling being easier, I opted to give it a go instead.

THOSE FOLKS WERE RIGHT!

It was significantly easier to set up, and while I still ran into a few issues (the Docker install of the tunnel connector wasn't working for me), it was much, much smoother and simpler.

I specifically followed the video from: https://youtu.be/ZvIdFs3M5ic
Which also has an associated blog post: https://www.crosstalksolutions.com/cloudflare-tunnel-easy-setup/

The only caveats I found were that my Cloudflare dashboard didn't have the Tunnel option accessible, but googling the Cloudflare Tunnels - Zero Trust App Connector remedied that easily. Happy to help (as much as I'm able) if other folks end up giving this a go.

Cloudflare Tunnels is an amazing technology that can not only replace traditional VPN in many cases, but has a number of distinct advantages. In this video, I discuss those advantages and then go through a complete Cloudflare Tunnels setup from start to finish.
