What does the symbol “ mean in the mark scheme

Would I still get the mark if I didn’t include it?

It means whatever you had in that position of the 6,10,1,12 they will accept it and give you the mark for it whether right or wrong

If you did exactly what they did with your own numbers

So say you had 13 in the position of the 12, and did 6 + 10 + 1 + 13 you'll get the mark
