i don't fully understand how they got the upper value of C. I thought that it was the one which is the closest to the 0.975 ( since we do 1-0.025)- so i thought that lander was 9.

yo sorry bro

#

i havent done poisson hypothesis testing

#

is it similar to binomial tho?

#

haven't done bionmial

hyptohesis

lemme have a look

#

i cant imagine it to be too different but maybe im wrong

yh

#

so its done slightly differently to binomial

#

where the hypothesis test is based around the mean

#

lamda

#

and it looks like u have 2 boundaries

#

so for the upper boundary

#

u are right in the fact that u use the value 0.975

#

however u would do

#

p(x>=x)

#

which is the same as 1-p(x<=x-1)

#

hence u dont do 1 - 0.025

#

but u just look at 0.025

#

and the value closest to that

#

then u remeber the fact that anything less than the significaance level is in the critcal reigon

#

and when lmada is 8 the p(x<=2) < sig level

#

so lamda and everything greater than lamda is in the critical region

#

because they just tried it with 7 and that was too big

#

i hope that makes some sense @drowsy bronze
