if we know P has coordinates (x,-1), and that P touches the circle, how could we find the x coordinate of P?
find the gradient. but i wanted to know how can P =(x,-1) when P is in the negative x-axis and positive y-axis
or should i ignore the diagram given in the qs??
diagram has been drew incorrectly
it's obviously a teachers drawing
ohoh okok
you can't really find the gradient without an x coordinate
so what else could we do?
change in y over change in x
then work out the perpendicular gradient then substitute and solve
do we need the perpendicular gradient?
yhyh cuz i hv to work out the gradient of the tangent
irs finnee
so what's the gradient
gradient of tangent will be 3
yeah sounds about right
