yeah
then obviously round
the maths ocd wants to tell you to write it 5720 × 1.03² instead lol
looks better
So if i do it the other way round does it lose a mark?
na
multiplication can be done like that (for now)
like 5 × 6 is the same as 6 × 5
Wrote the numbers wrong
That's rounded right, right
Think so
yes you're correct
Yay
Well done
Could you help me with like arcs and sectors they're a little off for me, there's only 2 small questions but idk how to go around them
if this was radians this would be sm easier lol
anyways, what's the equation we use?
Arc length = theta over 360 x 2pie r
so what could we do?
42 over 360 x 2pie30?
yah
Comes out as syntax error
check how uve typed it
Would there be a times between the pi and 30
you don't have to if you do 30pi
actually
maybe you do
I'd type it as: (42/360)(2)(pi)(30)
cus I'm a fiend for brackets
Brackets are so fun now I can use them and they make sense
Anyways comes out as 7pi or 21.99114858
Do you do 60+7pi?
didn't even have time to ask another question to get u there
yes you do
Well done
How should I round it?? To 81.99 ? Or up to 82
I'll leave as 81.99 more accurate I think
The second one, area = theta over 360 x pi × r². But we have the area so rearranging needed??
yes
you can either
substitute values in
then rearrange and solve
or rearrange first
then substitute values in
So we need theta so somethings gotta happen with the 534cm² and the place of theta right? The rest would stay the same
just substitute into the equation and we'll go from there
534 = Theta over 360 x pi x 30²
u know the area
Oh yh
534=θ/360 × pi × 30²
Yeah
yeah that's exactly right
so idm what you mean about 'not really'
lol
Just trial and error tbh tried most of them and that's the only 'reasonable' one
Pron won't work in exams cause of time but either or it's too late to learn rearranging
Well I'd be thinking
'what steps do I need to take to get θ alone'
Well, firstly I don't rly like the 900pi
so I'm gonna divide that
534/900pi = θ/360
now I don't like the 360
that's stopping me from getting theta
so then 534/900pi × 360 = theta
or you could write it as 534(360)/900pi = theta
,w (534(360))/900(pi)
I know, wolfram is just being a bit stupid and not inputting my result correctly
Maths actually just doesn't make sense, can do it but it acc doesn't make any sense how we get the numbers
68° to 2 significant figures
Hate significant figures with my life
Cause it hurts my brain when the zeros come first
its just like decimals but you start counting from the first non zero
Ik but then you gotta add it back in
372 to 0.00372?
No 372 are the significant numbers
wrote it out kinda odd
so what would it round to
How many places are we rounding too?
3 significant figures
Nasty numbers
not rly
0.00373
Oh god
0.80900 cause 0s count after a number above 0 right?
what about maths
is confusing
Right so like bassically sin cos and tan are apparently a number that represents God knows what or on a graph a little weird line and how on earth are we getting angles using them
Genuinely maths doesn't make sense how we're making numbers from words and all this. It makes sense when doing it but the logic ain't there
that's a misconception
sin cos and tan are not numbers
they are functions of an angle
Angles have more to them now ?? Whattt
a function is just a relationship between variables, like y=x
or y=sinx
you can say for instance that since sine is a function of an angle, you can work out the sine of an angle
like sin(60) (in degrees) is sqrt3/2
And someone's brain has figured that out?
oh yeah some random guy like 2000 years did that
invented (or discovered, its a debated topic) how angles work
They didn't have calculators or nothing maybe some mud to draw in and the sun
So somewhere in there someone has put numbers and made another thing
But who's figuring this out before the books
someone invented (or discovered) it
Random people with like mud and sticks tho
the whole idea with maths is:
there is an issue we do not know how to deal with
let's create a system to be able to deal with it
we can now solve the problem
repeat for all of history that we've had maths in
Hmm things just don't add up you know
na maths wasn't rly a thing until about 2000 BC
when scholars started thinking abt how our world works
and what they could invent to do make the world make sense
Calculatorssss
so we can consider stuff like numbers and algebra the 'foundation' of mathematics
so atm you probably have the level of understanding of a top class scholar from ~1000 BC I'd say
At the end of the day numbers mean nothing it's just a line to represent something physical sooo maths overall is just nothing
but they do mean stuff
they represent real world events and problems if we want them too
we can model with maths, create structures, invent new tools to help humanity
obviously some maths is just pure in the sense we're doing it to advance the field of maths or for enjoyment
but applied maths is actual application
no maths = no computers
See but science right makes sense, things react they let out stuff etc, maths is all a theoretical thingy like 2 doesn't mean anything till I make it represent something like
why does science mean anything
why is a cytoplasm a cytoplasm
very philosophical question tbh
Cause I like science lol so it gets that respect
I can tell
History, geography, (chemistry or biology)
Possibly criminology related stuff too
If I don't want a science but yh
Science to keep the science field open, history cause its fun, geography is apparently easy and yeah
Sometimes I like geography sometimes I dont
Depends on the topic
Kinda wanna go into forensic science tho, idk why
I still don't know which way round the symbols go so idk what you mean lollll
that's very cool
means greater than
My brother sid that so I might do
Biology better?
yea if you're not gonna do maths
Human biology is better imo tho, plant biology gets a little odd
it's just VERY content heavy
Love enzymes and the human body etc
probably the most content in an A level
I've seen lol, got all my brothers work that hr did and its like a lot,
But I told my mum tho it depends on my results yk, if I get a C in biology then I prob shouldnt
Planning for A A*s not cause of like the general reason
Just like the way they look
Bs are ew and just you know you were close to an A but failed
And a C is you're terrible you just about passed
A* is what I need but can't/doubt ill exactly get there
Yeah I've been through some of the courses they're hell
But you gotta suffer to succeed
If you're not suffering you're failing
much better experience than gcse
Nah love GCSEs atm they're not fun but like
Love getting things right
But longstory short got illness so I'm sleeping like from 4pm till 9pm so I get no revision done ever
And I gotta sleep at 11pm so it's 2 hrs plus time to acc let my brain focus 1hr and it isn't enough
So technically prepared to fail
It's kinda stupid though
Not exactly fair on me
Either or, kinda excited not rlly excited for A levels
I'm going uni 100% (if I don't fail)
Cause why wouldn't u, 1 subject for 3 years, its peace
