its cube root of x
Since you swap the x and y basically
y=x^3
then x=y^3
y=cuberoot of x
then ig u could ssubstitute values of x and y
@lilac bridge
but obv u know the general shape
yeah ik its the cube root of X but when plotting the coordinates, idk if id do (cube root of 2, 2) as a plot
no
you would do (2, cube root of 2)
f(x) = cuberoot(x)
so lets say u substitute to
the coordinate would be (2, cube root of 2)
if ur cube rooting the x, wouldnt it be then (cube root 2, 8)?
if you substitute in cube root 2, then it would be (cube root 2, cube root of cube root of 2)
why u substituting cube root of 2?
nah im just saying
to show how it works
basically f(2)=cube root 2
therefore f(x)=cube root x
The x value is like the variable that you are changing
(substituting)
and then y changes according to x
nah ik, im being stupid rn
Basically the inverse is y= cube root of x
Meaning if I sub x=8... I would get the y value of 2 innit? Because y= cube root of x i.e. 8
In the above graph... if u draw it on desmos, you will see that when x=8, y=2
Also, draw the graph on desmos and see that when x=27 y will be....?
You should know the ans
wdym x=8, y=2, on the graph its plotted (-2, -8) and (2, 8)
No its not!
this graph
I am talking about the inverse graph
oh right
wait so when you do the inverse function of a coordinate does the x and y swap around?
then in this case cube root both points
and plot it, ok if it is i swr ive not done something like this in class
Well ... yeah in inverse function it does. This is what we do in year 13 maths chapter 2
haha no clue what that is, england must teach it differently
You dont really cube root the points
Which country are you in?
scotland
Do you have till year 14 in scotland?
wdym u dont cube root the points, if its x^3 and the inverse is cube root x wouldnt u cube root the points?
nah, we have 7 years of primary school and 6 years of highschool, usually start primary school at 4/5
s5 which is year 12
When do you have your scottish advance higher after which u go to uni?
In how many years do you have that
next year
Oh cool
our nat5 course is 2 years, higher is 1 year and advanced higher is 1 year
Ohh... well in england we do A (advanced) levels after secondary school of 2 years after which we go to uni
Anyways, lets come back to the ques
lol yeah
Which points are you talking about. If you have a graph of f(x) and u got coordinates (2,8) then u wouldnt cube root them to find the coordinates of the graph f inverse (x)
u wouldnt?
You wouldnt do cube root 2 and cube root 8 to find the coordinates of the inverse graph
No its affecting both x and y
if u dont cube root whats the point of knowing the inverse of x^3 is cube root of x
I have no problem to discuss this on chat but if you like do you wanna come on voice chat?
lmao sure ig
Cool
