#Gradients and intercepts on graphs
10 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Let's start with A.
The gradient is the change in y/change in x.
Although the numbers aren't there, try to put them on. You've been given six.
Im taking 2 points from line A in order to find the gradient.
We have:
(1,6)
(0,3)
Change in y = 3
Change in x = 1
3/1 = 3
Gradient = 3
To the lines equation:
3x
(1)(3) = 3
6-3 = 3
So it would be:
y = 3x + 3
We know the equation:
y = mx + c
C is the y intercept, so 3 is the y intercept
To find the x intercept, we plug in 0 for y to find x.
0 = 3x + 3
-3 = 3x
x = -1
So the x intercept is -1
So:
Question 1: 3
Question 2: 3
Question 3: -1
