If we put the total paint we have in a ratio we get 2:3, from this you can tell that we won’t be able to use up all the red paint if we mix it in the required ratio because there isn’t enough white to mix in with 20 litres of red
So we will have some red left over
That is when we use all of the white up
So 30 litres is be the 5 in the 2:5 ratio of red:white, and so we will imagine the ratio as 2x:5x and equate 5x to 30
That gives x as 6, and this tells us we will use 12 litres (2x) red paint
Total paint used = 42 litres (maximum we can make of pink papaya)
Because we’ve used 12:30 litres
