please help with ar what do they mean by 5ar = 2a

5 AR = 2 AC
AR = 2/5 AC

basically saying that from A to R is 2/5 of the whole distance from A to C. it tells you where R is on the line AC

really it just means ‘5 times the distance from A to R is 2 times the whole distance from A to C’
