  • this device is around 2 months old, I have not overclocked anything on it.

  • While playing games and apps on my PC i will randomly get a lag spike/game will freeze for roughly 5-15 seconds at a time, these are quite frequent. I have been searching for possible fixes for over a month now and still haven't figure it out yet. I have updated drivers for numerous things and done some things within the command prompt. i really need help to fix this as it destroys playing online as my game freezes but theirs doesn't.

  • As ive said ive updated drivers, seeked help online and done some fixes using command prompt and it still will not fix

-if any more info is needed let me know.

have you ran a memory test yet? how many ram modules do you have and have you set xmp or left it at defaults ram settings?

#

the problem could be ram, but that usually results in a full system freeze if that is what you mean. SSD/HDD issues can cause stutter or long hitching spikes

#

cpu issues can also cause lag, like overheating will lower performance. it could mean either the CPU itself is overheating or the motherboard vrm power delivery overheating if it's low quality motherboard

#

what game is having the freezing problem? is it just that game or everything and does it include when using the desktop?

kind dome
#

It happens with every game, I thought just steam but it happens with all games. I haven’t experienced it when using desktop

edgy silo
#

you may need to run a more thorough memtest like memtest86 free version (not memtest86+)

edgy silo
#

actually, update your post with all your system specs im mentioning

#

like ram timings as spec'ed for the kit and whether it's an aio or air cooler for the cpu and what model

kind dome
edgy silo
#

ehhh does it have specific details like what i mentioned?

kind dome
#

Uhhhhh not sure I’ll post it now and let me know what you would still need

edgy silo
#

i mainly just wanted to know what the ram specs were and cpu cooler

kind dome
#

I’ve updated the post if you want to have a look

edgy silo
#

have you checked cpu temperatures when gaming?

#

or even just idle in desktop?

#

most of your build looks find but the SSDs are kind of not great

#

well... more specifically the kingston ssd

#

do you know which SSD your games are installed?

#

that kingston SSD is very low quality and not reviewed well

kind dome
#

games are installed on the adata

#

kingston is primarily for my os

edgy silo
#

did the system come with both?

#

im wondering if the system was configured to have the kingston as OS drive and if you chose it to save money

#

that drive could be the source of all your problems

kind dome
#

hmmmm, i only use that drive for my OS, thats all, im not sure if it was configured to have the kingston as a os drive. the site i purchased the PC from (which i bought from before and had no problem at all with ) allows you to select a pre built PC and configure the parts if you want a faster or cheaper build. i upgraded most of the parts. the Kingston i chose myself specifically for my OS but im not entirely sure if it has been configured for this or not

edgy silo
#

personally, i would buy a new higher quality 2TB or larger and replace the drive after cloning it

#

but that would require removing the 4TB so the new drive replacement can be installed and cloned to from the original drive

#

and then that means taking the kingston out and putting the new drive in place of the kingston and putting the original 4TB back in the original slot

#

or get an external usb enclosure to clone the drive which is easier but costs extra

kind dome
#

it just doesnt seem like the ssd would be a problem. if it is then i might have a talk with the builder as the whole pc is in warrenty and im sure is returnable

#

would that drive, if it is the problem, cause anything to my games though. i would like to understand that if it can, how it can, if you know what i mean

edgy silo
#

well from what i saw in reviews, the drive runs very hot

#

normally a fixable issue with just a heatsink added to it. if it's over heating with the heatsink the motherboard comes with, it could mean the plastic covering for the thermal pad was not removed

#

i would say, run a benchmark on the drive to see what it does

#

you will also need to check the temperature

#

the performance will be below the rated spec by a lot if the drive is overheating

#

it will throttle performance to lower heat

kind dome
edgy silo
#

looks like it's within spec

#

run the benchmark on your 4TB too

kind dome

#

do you have any software installed for checking temperatures?

all my temps are sitting below like 50 degrees for everything but my gpu which is sitting at 55-60. i have a game running in the background rn

#

more info, just had a lag spike in game and my cpu, kingston spiked in activity and my GPU dropped

it was a prebuit pc that came built from them but was possible to change parts out

contact them instead for warranty purposes. if u try troubleshooting it and actually mess up, u’ll end up spending more. the reason i’m advising this is because the issue u have does not point to anything specific except a possible hardware failing
