#Gpu Wont Display

now when i plug it back in the pc it doesnt display but the fan still works
is there any way i can fix this
need a new smc
that tan component is a surface mount capacitor
a repair shop with the documentation could certainly replace it
@lunar aspenit looks like you didnt use the correct philips head # 00 screwdriver bit to unscrew it
never use the wrong tools for expensive hardware repairs
the screw drivers are cheap
it worked for all the other screws
just because it works doesnt mean it's a good idea
i accidentally mixed up the screw
if you have to force it to work, you are going to break something
this was supposed to be the plastic shell
so it was one of the shorter screws
instead of the long screw
how much would that cost?
no that screw is for the aluminum heatsink block
the plastic shell is only the top part which is screwed in on the sides
not sure, need to go there with the card and get and estimate
@lunar aspenget a rubber band and stick the screw driver into the band and on to the screw and try to loosen it
okay
i dont know if that screw is used for pressure mounting the heatsink to the gpu surface, but you might be able to get away with using a screw from the ends of the board to put back there
but you should really go buy or find the correct philips # 00 bit/screw driver before you put it back together
just an example of the correct screw driver for those screws
the screw was one of these for the sides
yeah you dont need to topuch those if you are repasting
so it was shorter
you only need to undo the bottom screws that hold the heatsink to the board
yeah im a dumbass
you might need a bigger screw driver than what youre using to force it to undo with the rubber band inside
could i have done more damage to the card?
or is that what is affecting it not displa you ng
displayong
well
the card needs to be repaired before you can do anythign else to it
so actually dont bother trying to unscrew that screw
i missed the part of you knocking off a component
the card is still ok but you need to take it somewhere to get repaired
i imagine the repair will basically do everything for you that you wanted done
how much would you guess this would cost?
could be expensive
i dont really know. the price can vary
figure something like minimum $200 for the service
maybe cheaper depending on how much is wrong
it's a small component that needs to be resoldered so it may not be too bad
could there be other parts that i may have damages without knowing?
or is this the part thats causing it to not display
if it was just that area, i doubt it
it doesnt take much work to resolder that component back on
but the service can be expensive
plus they will repaste it since they need to open it to make sure everything else is functioning after the repair
broken 3090 uhhhhh maybe $300
used 3090 is probably $450
up to $500 depending on model
gigabyte turbo
you have a blower model so it may be worth more like$500-600
okay
but because it's broken more like $400 max
if you get it fixed it will probably be worth around $450
fr?
i thought it was gonna be at least like 600
3090 is only worth like $600 max right now last i saw
ive seen them for like 700 on ebay
the only good thing about ti next to a 4070 super is it has 24GB vram
they are not selling for that
those are just listings
check how long it's been there with no bids
only the blower or top tier models would get that high
ok i guess prices have changd since i last looked
ill try to find a guy that can fix it
last i saw they were going for $600 max on the lower tier models and $700 max for top tier and blower
but used repaired gpus are gonna be way lower
really?
even a repair on that tiny little piece?
yeah because the person buying it doesnt know if it will have a problem later on
and there is no warranty
refurbished units from a refurbishing company would probably have a 90day warranty
from an individual, i wouldnt pay the same as from a company that refurbishes units
okay 👍
do you think itll be cheaper if i bring the gpu with me when i visit china and get them to repair it?
i know they have people that can fix anything
problem is having th documentation for the card to know what that capacitor is
where should i find that?
the card was shortly discontinued
the repair specialist would have it
call X place say can you fix my 3090 (model) with this issue (picture of broken off capcitor)
nvm it displays again
