#Wifi/ethernet issue
120 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
ethernet cable is not detected when its plugged in?
Yes not detected
is windows up to date?
are ther lights on the mobo and router ports? have you tried other ports on you router?
Yes every port every cord I don't know the problem
have you tried disabling/enabling your ethernet controller? going and downloading the newest drivers? doing a bios update? do you have a tool to check integrity of ethernet cord for internal breaks?/ swap out cord for another one?
No I haven't actually done that before I reset my pc it was working just fine
i would start with swapping the cable
and then doing manual driver update
ive had trouble with mobos recently not having wifi/ethernet drivers be auto installed by windows
or it'll install old ones that dont work and u need to get the ones from the manufacturers website
yeah its been a pita for the last few pcs ive built on am5
had to hook em up to ethernet all jank
or get in without wifi through command prompt
then have a usb w the drivers
i carry one of these and the driver disk and usb stick with drivers on it specifically for these issues in my repair backpack
i just had to sacrifice my windows usb in the name of keeping a copy of my cad assignments
Im actually losing my mind using wifi is so slow when I tried to download something I troubleshooted it and nothing worked
I can't even play simple games like roblox because the wifi is bad and ethernet does not work
@modest elm @solid idol
have u checked your actual driver and ethernet settings ?
is it possible u can come screen share in a voice chat for a bit i have time right now and we can check a few things pretty quickly
usually the first clear sign is when u plug it in the poirt itself has some orange and or green lights that start blinking when u plug it in
if your cable has blinking lights on both ports when u plug the cable it its a driver issue
if 1 port doesnt have the green link light its almost for sure a cable issue but since u said u reset it and it stopped working i'm betting its just a missing driver
check your drivers by right clicking on the start button and going to device manager then look for network adapters and make sure your ethernet drivers are properly installed u can even update them from there sometimes if they arent installed correctly
if u can take sum pics of your device maanger that would help to find the issue too
okay that works out
none of the leds are on for the plug behind the motherboard
downloading a game like fortnite took 4 hours
if you have time to call
thats alright and i can screen share
yeah i checked device manager and realtek driver is not there
and i trying to find ways to install the driver back
there
the realtek driver is missing
okay, is that broadcom a ethernet card?
and xan you list full system specs?
the triangles indicate the card is either broken or missing drivers
yup right click thoes 3 and click update driver
u can also look in undows updates and do the optional ones they are almost ALWAYS in there and dont get installed unless u go there and pick em
all 3 of the triangled ones are for ethernet gotta update thoes drivers
Yeah It says driver Is already updated
check windows updates and see if there is optional ones
if they arent there then we'll goto motherboards website and get them and try a manual isntall to fix it but u forsure gotta driver issue with ethernet ports
sometimes uninstalling them from device manager will kick in windows updates too fix it too
Yep checking
it work or ?
No it doesn't but it's algood that you helped
were there no updates tehres a few opther things to try aswell
When you reset your computer did you download your ethernet drivers from your motherboards website? What motherboard do you have?
Doing this should fix it I was just hoping maybe windows update would do it easier but sounds like it needs the good ole manual install from mobo website
Ab350 gaming mother board
I restarted my pc and this error shows I don't know to do because it's just frozen in one place and when I take out a stick of ram it works
https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Motherboard/GA-AB350-Gaming-3-rev-1x/support#support-dl-driver-lan Those are your LAN drivers for your board.
Make sure it's GIGABYTE tho...cause there is a Asrock one too.
All your drivers are there. Scroll down to the LAN portion. The link should have took you straight to them.
Okay
i dont know how which one to install so im gonna install them all @zealous robin
nothing is working lol
should only need to do the first one especially if yer on windows 11
check your device manager again see if anythings changed
I'm windows 10 downloaded the driver nothing apears
did u open it ?
sometimes its literally a zip file u gotta extract and open sometiems even more complicated
if u got time to screen share n vc i'm good to go now
Yeah
ok hop in tech support
ok
hey which chanel do i go in?
GA-Ab350-gaming 3
dang.. still going at it?
dead port?
yeah it's likely a dead port
so uhh.. the thing is port doesnt seem to have lights on
so either the cable is broken or the port is broken since the drivers at this point is irrelevant
so it aint the cable
definitely the port
coz with or without drivers it will light up
power surge probably killed the port
it's not uncommon
or port was like barely functioning before the reset lol
yeah just do a live boot linux to test
if linux cant use it either, then definitely the port is fried
oh lmao my router decided to update on its own
u can just get an ethernet to usb dongle or something if u dont wanna replace the board
there's tons for cheap
was wondering why internet went silent
yeah u can find one for like $10 or so
yeah better than a new board LMAO
always keep a flashdrive if u own a pc
it's like your hail mary tool
looks like a 128gb drive
check task manager, it should say the model number
i was about to ask LOL
C: is on a HDD
is this a new windows install?
LMAO yeah gonna need a flash drive
get that extra benefit from that SSD
it's more than enough for windows, just dont put big games in it as well
gl on it. not having a flash drive readily available makes troubleshooting a pain

gnyt u both
