Do you have a DPI button on the mouse?
yeah
https://www.lifewire.com/turn-off-mouse-acceleration-in-windows-11-5193828
i might look at this and make sure accel is off
Definitely turn off "enhance pointer precision" and make sure to check your DPI settings for the mouse
double check pointer speed as well while you are checking these other settings
Its off and Ive chevked the pointer speed and doesnt seem to do anything
its still the same wether i increase or decrease the speed
What about your DPI?
whats that
You said you had a DPI button on the mouse
ohh yeah when i toggle it, all it does is change the speed of the mouse
it's a button that changes pointer speed essentially using the mouse's software
yeah
Is the DPI set to your preferred setting?
yeah
Hmmm. Are you using alienware software for the mouse?
what do you mean
Does alienware have a special software that you control features of the mouse
Yeah
Are you using that software
uhh, i dont think so
The only alienware software i have on my computer is its command center
Does it have settings to change certain mouse settings?
Normally those command centers have settings for all peripherals of the same brand
yes
Double check to make sure that all those settings are correct.
Can you screenshot the settings and upload it here?
Hmm. all settings seem correct. Don't see anything that would cause the mouse to be delayed.
Thats what im saying
Is windows fully updated?
How do i check that
Yes
Ok
Sometimes windows updates includes driver updates for peripherals
Wait
So i have spotify open but minimized and i paused my music and now my mouse is fine
It just happens when you have Spotify open?
No, It happens with other things too
What other applications?
I only have Spotify, Discord, running at the moment
Yeah it gets slowed and delayed when i unpause my music
What other applications cause the mouse to slow down
I just opened minecraft and it slows down
memory issue?
Did you pause Spotify before opening up Minecraft
or just that alienware is ass
Just want to make sure its an isolated issue from Spotify
I guess it only slows down with the applications i use when i get on
Awesomenauter makes a solid point. What is your RAM usage looking like? you can check in task manager
WAIT
FIRST THING TO CHECK
i just rea;lized its wireless
do you have any other 2.4ghz devices nearby
How does that related to their problem being fixed by pausing Spotify or not opening up Minecraft
heaphones
wireless headphone dongle
or other mouse
or keyboard
all can be spotty with connetions to other devices
But those things are meant to be near each other
ive had this happen before
weirddd
if they are plugged in on same side of pc , and you sit close enough it can interferre anyways
My CPU stays under 15% and Memory under 30
While music is playing?
Cus i only have discord open at the momenth
dell puts the cheapest wireless chips in their mice as possible, ive had several give co workers connetion issues
no i closed spotify
check your polling rate for your mouse
i def dont reccomend dell besides monitors
sometimes extremely high polling rate causes delays
went through software, id hope he see that, good point
bad usb controller on mobo/low quality yeah
its probaly 1k tho
it's only reproducible with playing music on spotify and opening other applications
yah that can happen for some odd reason
happened to a workstation pc once and it drove us nuts
turned out there was another mouse receiver with a high polling rate even tho the mouse it’s connected to isn’t even there
it was the stupid receiver lmao
from what i could guess, it keeps doing its thing and it was overwhelming the usb controller which happened to be also the one running a speaker set
have they been able to try a different, preferably wired mouse?
Can we like go one diagnostic test at a time?
and provide them guidance on how to perform each test
Ok so as of right now my mouse is doing fine, I have nothing open other then DIscord. When i open other applications such as Opera, Spoitfy, Xbox, Minecraft or any other game, my mouse starts slowing down
Ive checked and tweaked with simple settings and doesnt seem to fix anything other then my speed of mouse
@ancient kayak you wanna go through polling rate diagnostic?
At this point im debating if i should just get a new mouse. But im not tryna spend on a new mouse if i can fix this one
screensharing the app and re running the calibrations would be best
setting the polling rate to 500 and restarting windows is also a good step
it would be under performance or something of the like in that alienware app
i gotta go so good luck
polling rate test probably is the quickest one to do
just set it to 500 and check. if it improves, u’re on the right track
i mean, its not only if you can fix this one, but also do you know that it is your current mouse specifically? if you have a different mouse to try that would sus the issue down to either the mouse specifically or some computer hardware/ software
if its an issue separate from the mouse buying a new mouse wouldn't even belp
its in the alienware app
it should be in the same page as dpi in the app. or so says dell site
found it
they are dumb and confusing
calling it polling rate delay
1 is 1000hz 4 is 125
2 and 3 are 500 adn 250
wtf.
so turn that on and put it at 3
kk
ok go back up to 1
