Hey, just wanted to ask how bad is this damage, if its fixable, and if i should buy GPU like that (2080ti for 100usd). I have some basic PCB skills.
#Broken PCIE on gpu

That entire PCB is cracked and it looks all the way through. That's not a do it yourself type repair and I wouldn't waste any money or time on it.
waiting for guy to send me stress test on the gpu, if it passes does it mean its ok?
I wouldn't touch it. A 2080ti isn't a top of the line card anymore. And how can he stress test it? The card still works?
he clarify that the card works in full performance
i also know its not top tier card, but a good upgrade to me since i have 980 with i7 6700k
and for 100usd quite tempting
I dunno. Bro. That a big risk, I personally wouldn't take it in that condition.
Well, i will see tomorrow and then i will decide, will probably also send video here
dont risk it
if you want it for gaming, dont risk both your pc and your money on it
That pin is beyond fucked.
0 way you are ever getting it totally flat again and all that will do is create problems, not to mention the pcb issues. It might be cracked where it doesn't matter, but that pin is way more effort to fix than it's worth.
for $100 and it works, fck it and go gamble the chance
once it’s seated, u ain’t moving it anyway
worse case scenario, u resell it for parts
i dont really see a reason why it wouldn't work. i've seen far worse mangled GPUs than that. the crack you see isn't really an issue since that part of the PCB dont have any connections running perpendicular to the gold contact fingers. all those contact fingers run up on the surface and they all have their own traces. the only issue you'll encounter if you try to use it is making sure that damaged finger next to the crack doesnt lift up while inserting the GPU to the pci-e slot
and again, for $100, if u can afford it, i'd say go gamble it. if it works perfectly fine, u got a decent working GPU for hella cheap. if it doesnt, u can resell the GPU for parts and make your money back and maybe some
I will take it
The stress test shows that it works just fine under the pressure
He run it for 15 minutes without error
Will let you know
btw, if the pcb layers are separating, u can defintely glue them back and it's probably best to do it prior to use so they'd fit properly into the pcie slot
for the damaged gold finger, u can use solder mask at the very tip and just cure it. it'll hold the gold finger down and act as a glue
this is what it looks like, before and after
Do u need special glue for that?
Or any glue is ok
i use 15-min epoxy
they hold better than superglue
Does this count as 8pin?
It’s 6+2
I had old gtx 980 6 pin and now I need 8pin for new gpu
And I have 2 cables 6+2
Wonder if it’s good or buy new cables as well
6+2 are the only cables you should be using on gpus
