So my system when i try to boot it the motherboard shows a solid white light indicating the gpu(7900xt) isn't functioning. But i tested another gpu(6700xt) and got the same results, and i know for a fact that the 6700xt works. Can someone help me?

try to use a different lane.

#

could jsut be the primary pcie lane.

wooden prairie
#

Lane?

rocky violet
#

slot.. use a different slot.

wooden prairie
#

Oh gotcha

rocky violet
#

provided you have more than one.

#

some itx boards don't.

wooden prairie
#

I'm not sure the other lane is compatible im rocking a b550-f mb

rocky violet
#

if it has more than 1 it will work just not at full speed. you jsut want to see if the slot is the problem or the cards.

#

considering you know one works it may be the lane.

#

slot whatever..

wooden prairie
#

Oh so get a new mb awesome😭

rocky violet
#

I mean that's like really drastic solutions but sure.

wooden prairie

#

did you plug their power cables all the way in/shvoe it in the slot all the way?

wooden prairie
#

Ye

rocky violet
#

and then put the display cable for the monitor too it?

I had extention cables and removed them still the same thing

I'd try to reset cmos like meezy suggested and try again

wooden prairie
#

The problems started happening like 30 mins ago

#

How i reset cmos?

rocky violet
#

should be a button for it on the strix..

wooden prairie
#

Do i unplug everything first?

rocky violet
#

yes unplug it from the wall and hosl the power button for like 5 seconds then hit the cmos button on the motherboard for 5 seconds.

#

typing hard..

shrewd geyser
#

b550-f doesn't have a cmos button...

rocky violet
#

wow really?

#

that's a letdown.. so you would have to jump the pins for it and I can't pull up a diagram for that.

shrewd geyser
#

nope.... @wooden prairie just pull the battery out of the mobo, wait a few seconds, pop it back in

wooden prairie
#

When ever i power the system on i hear a click sound from my psu a few seconds into the boot

#

If the means anything

rocky violet
#

sounds like opp is tripping.

wooden prairie
#

No way

#

I bpught this psu so that wouldn't happen

rocky violet
#

doesn't really.. mean anything why warranties exist.

wooden prairie
#

Imma be so upset cause this is a msi a1000g

rocky violet
#

again why warranties exist.

wooden prairie
#

I got another psu i can test brb

wooden prairie
rocky violet
#

I find it hard to believe you have 2 random dead cards but possible.

wooden prairie
#

This is annoying

wooden prairie
#

1 ain't even a year old

#

I'm just gonna keep swapping shit

rocky violet
#

could try another psu and see if that works.

#

if you have a random one laying around.

wooden prairie
#

Goood fucking god

#

It was the fucking cpu

#

How the fuck bro

#

Moral of the story: If nothing makes sense while troubleshooting. It's your cpu

rocky violet
#

did you try to reseat.

wooden prairie
#

Also i put the msi power supply back. The white light is still there but i got video now

#

Oh you mean put the 5800x back?

#

Im about too juat wanted to test psu

rocky violet
#

reseat the cpu in the socket lol.

wooden prairie
rocky violet
#

good.

wooden prairie
#

Thank you guys bunch for the help

rocky violet
#

no problem.

#

don't know what I did.

wooden prairie
#

Well you being there and helping shift through the option led me to the problem

#

Ya didn't find the issue it self but narrowed down the list for me

rocky violet
#

Good to hear enjoy your pc.

wooden prairie
#

Ty

wooden prairie
#

My r 5 3600 nor my r7 5800x work on the system anymore
