so my pc was shutting down randomly when gaming without a particular rythime. now its not even starting up.

specs:
b450 Tomahawk
ryzen 3100X
gtx 960
whisper psu
gigabyte case

#

im guessing it's a power supply

#

but my gpu small led is lighting

#

which means it has power

#

it just booted

#

stayed for 10 seconds

#

and turned off again

#

which means all the parts work

#

that's a psu issue right?

sharp lark
#

do you have debug leds

#

but the motherboard isn't turning on

#

when it occasionally turns on as i mentioned above, no debug lights turn and it boots normally

this shows everything

Turn off the power supply from the back, disconnect the power cord wait 30 seconds....re-plug the power cord, turn on the PSU and try power on the system. If it cuts back on you don't have a PSU issue.

If it cuts off after a short time or while you're gaming again it's probably your CPU is overheating because your computer is filthy. Your CPU cooler isn't going to be cooling the CPU because it's clogged up with filth. You need to disassemble that whole thing, clean it and re-paste the cooler etc. Not even going to talk about the miss-match ram and anything else you got going on in there...lol....

If the first step doesn't work you might have to replace the PSU. As it's not a good one to begin with.

ok so unplugging my pc and replugging makes it boot and then shut off after like 1 minute then it stops booting exactly as the video shows.

secondly, my cpu wasnt over heating before and i changed the thermal paste just to make sure but the problem persists.

about the missmatch memory lol, well one from my old pc and a new one, but i tried each one separately and the problem persists.

before this problem, my pc was randomly shutting down while gaming if that helps with anything, but i am positive it's not a temperature issue. my average gpu temp when gaming is 60-65 and cpu doesn't get over 65 too. i do not play heavy games, just minecraft.

it seems to be staying in bios, I'll leave for a bit and let u know if it shuts down

#

you probably have a short from all that crap in there as dust is conductive, it's either inside the psu itself which you shouldn't clean or on the board and you would need to clean the whole board.

i'd say start with the cheapest fix: dismantle and clean it. then reassemble.

during re-assembly, pay close attention to the components especially the board. look for any signs of charring or burn marks. it's very unlikely but you might as well check since it doesnt cost a thing to do, just extra time.

if the issue persists, the cause is more than likely the PSU. if you can source out a different one even just to test, it'll be great and would help you make sure that your next purchase will fix the issue.

there is a small chance that a different component is broken. a failing board or CPU normally would throw a BSOD but they can also sometimes just send your pc to complete shut off.

I am a year late but yeah it was a psu issue for people that have the same problem
