Do you have a reciept of the pc you bought?
....did you just take pictures of the whole thing and expect us too know what parts you did and didnt have in there?
I have the picture
so from my guessing it's some kind of cyberpower prebuilt
ye
Lemme see
did you buy it from someone else or cyberpower itself?
best buy
im confused why you had to install anything then
Product ID/Model: GMA4000BST
damn, that's old. But you don't need to installing anything unless you want to upgrade it
I want to updgrade.
It costed 700 dollars
how much can you spend to upgrade?
if you put those two budgets together and just got an actual prebuilt pc you would be much better setup
oh
there's honestly not much salvagable from this aside from maybe the case and the power supply
Do I need any proccessors or graphics cards?
its 7 years old
damn
you're gonna need both
yeah
I questioned about it and stuff
Best buy over priced there pc
return it
they took advantage
then come back and we can help design a better build for you to make yourself or recommend you a good prebuilt
oh
ok
you can return it right? It looks like it just came out of a pc box
its been 3 weeks. I built it a week ago before my freind
who is pretty good at pcs told me to take a look at it
your friend just gave you crap, that's an rx570 and a 2700x, parts that are nearly 5 years old
return it, and start over
Pretty sure Best buy returns last for a month I will have to be quick
just get it in tomorrow
if the motherboard can have it's bios updated to support newer cpus, a 5800x3d and faster ram would be a fine upgrade to the motherboard and 6600 xt or 6700xt for $150-320 depending on what card you get
if you can get your money back, you can take advantage of black friday sales to get a good pc
I willl try to do that
I wouldn't even bother, it's only 8gb of ram at 2666 and a 240gb ssd, better to start fresh
so? get faster ram
he's got $1600 total to spend
that thing probably has a b450 in it
actually you know what?
just buy a new pc and return that one
then I will only spend 1000 dollars because I wanna buy vr
damn my pc really sucks
aight thanks sooo sooooooooooooooooooo much to the power of 10000
You guys saved me so much money
and time
@acoustic violet do you want to buy only a prebuilt computer or can you build your own computer
are building computers hard
no
for a beginner
no, as long as you don't have the same hand stability and strength as your grandparents, you'll be fine
i dont know if i'd build your own pc if you're alone
I can watch a video then
you could certain build one by yourself but having more eyes on it and someone who knows what they're doing would help a lot
ooo
yes
there is more to building a pc than just putting it together
every beginner i have seen do it have always run into issues because guides dont mention certain things
oh
actually pc building simulator might be a good way to get an idea of how to do it in addition to watching build guide videos
Generally if you buy a 1000 dollar pre built pc or you buy 1000 dollars in pc parts and then build it pretty nicely whichwill be more for the buck
or better
always when you build it yourself
well i mean...
back during covid that wasnt true, but now that we are back to normalcy thats true
even back during covid, SI and prebuilt company caught on and still charges you outrageous price. I remember seeing a 3080ti build for 4k almost
a prebuilt will technically cost less for the same basic parts but the user built will have better quality on certain parts assuming you buy quality from the start
motherboard, ssd, power supply and case would be the main things you would probably want to get better quality on if building it yourself. the cpu and gpu would be the same basic thing and ram can vary in quality depending on how much you're willing to spend
I will actually know what I am paying for without spending 10 hours
building your own pc an be a good experience for leaning more about your pc, but it can be a frustrating experience if something goes wrong and you cant fix it within a day
I will make sure that doesnt happen
plus if you need warranty service, you have to do it for each part
there are pros and cons of prebuilt vs user built and it really comes down to whether you think you are ready for the challenge
Most likely the pre built pc will be have less risk and will be pretty good or the other option is to build your own pc which is super risky but is better than the pre built one if you build it correctly
are those the pros and cons?
it's not super risky, just a bit of a challenge if you're new to it
the biggest risk is probably the cpu socket
and possibly plugging in the power cables correctly
I am screwed if best buy does not let me return this
they should let you return it if you just got it
3 weeks ago
ehhhh 1 more week would have been pushing it but get it done this coming week and it should be fine
cross your fingers
I will
how much money will I have to spend to make this like the new ones if by chance this does not get returned
or a decent pc
that can handle games bro. This computer is breathing to even process something
oh
Check on the website on what the return by date is
it expired 3 days ago
I think you can try. Sometimes they give store credit gift card
so either I upgrade my pc or I get a new one or I just cry in my room
Imma try tmrw
This is the specs it seems
yeah
Other might differs...but I don't think anything is worth salvaging...Probably the SSD and HDD and maybeeeee the case
But the rest is eh...
ohhhhhhhhhhh thanks
black friday is near
will it be able to handle fortnite or cod or blue stacks without dying
I doubt it. That's a pretty damn old gpu bud
can gpu be changed
Yeah but with that system, everything is old
so you gonna end up basically buying almost everything again
will it run me like 600 dollars or more
Probably but I think we can fix up something for under 1k that's at least viable in modern time
what needs to be changed? I am sorry if I am asking tooooo much questions]
I need to check on the psu/power supply on that build
how do I do that
It's 600w
that is good right
That's fine
This would be 716$ pre-tax with new case and ssd. Everything else that's marked as "already purchased" is reusing parts @acoustic violet
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4NGx9c
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, Radeon RX 6700 XT, Montech AIR 903 BASE ATX Mid Tower
Take those off and you are saving additional 150$
tysm
prebuilt is risky due to shipping
i totally forgot about that
@acoustic violetyou can still upgrade the system you bought, but you at least have a learning experience about buying computers without researching or asking about it first
all ryzen motherboards can upgrade to ryzen 5000 cpus as long as the bios has an upgrade
thats what I would do but it sounds like it would cost 1000
is that an upgrade or a new pc?
it doesnt have to cost $1000 to upgrade it
Well 500 dollars
it depends on what you actually want to do with it
Use it for school homework, Code, Play games
Literally gave the upgrade list above...
oh
@kind canopydo you know for certain that that msi is the motherboard?
no, but it's for sure an a320m according to cyberpower
Ok, pretty sure it's the asrock @lethal violet
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/gtPKHx/asrock-a320m-hdv-r40-micro-atx-am4-motherboard-a320m-hdv-r40
i looked at the pictures posted at the start and it's actually an asrock like i was thinking
oh
ha!
i didnt se you posted that right as i hit enter because i was at the top of the thread
Yeah I was looking at the pics he sent and tryna dig thru pcp
it doesnt say what revision the board is
not sure if that will matter, but that board likely has a ryzen 5000 bios update
it could easily runa 5800x3d
or just a cheaper 5600 non x
It's a 12$ diff from non x to x
if it was a b450, i would say a 5800x3d made sense but cheaper would be better so a 5700x may be a better buy over 5600
5600g is only 122$ vs 155 5600
no

forget the 5600g
the 5600g is only slightly better than 3600 non x
or about a 3600x
yeah but also the price difference from a 5600 and 5700x is like $30
cpu, ram and gpu are gonna be like a $600 upgrade if going for 5600x, 32GB ram and 6700xt
could maybe get it down to $500 with a 6600 xt
and then add on a $70ish nvme ssd
$700 though for that system in 2023..... sheesh
the parts new look like they would only be like $350
Could just buy used
i meant the parts of the $700 system
Yeah but coming out of the recent parts shortage...I mean, 700$ isn't a bad deal for something competitively viable in 2023, when a goddamn gpu is 600-700$ norm
doesnt the system have a 2300x? that is a 4core 4thread cpu on zen+
it's not entirely bad since it can be upgraded to a 5800x3d
