quick question about motherboard

Do these thermal pads for the m.2 slots need removed and go on top of the m.2 or leave where they are and take the film off?

That thermal pad stays there, just remove the peel if there is one

It's meant to cool the underside of the ssd in case there's chips below

Your motherboard m.2 heatsink should already have pads on them
