Got a new laptop OB from micro center, Zenbook pro 14 oled. Saw something in the corner of the screen and wondering if I should contact ASUS regarding this.

@velvet totem

naive plume
#

does microcenter not have a warranty for this

^

#

I would bring it back to mc first

#

Did you buy the mc warranty? I know ob for them is sold "as is"

sturdy spear
#

I didn't buy the warranty

#

I could since it's within 14 days

velvet totem
#

Previous owner mightve donked it

#

If u got the warranty, they could replace it

sturdy spear
#

But here's the issue, MC doesn't have a replacement

naive plume
#

that wouldnt be covered under asus warranty probably either since its user induced

velvet totem
#

But it doesn't look that significant from the pic

naive plume
#

thats true

sturdy spear
#

I bought the last one MC had

#

I know BB is getting it in stock

velvet totem
#

If you have the warranty

sturdy spear
#

What about the 15 day return policy?

velvet totem
#

For ob, most they will do is refund ya

#

You can try your luck but I'd doubt it for a product that's OOS

#

Because ob is sold as is

naive plume
#

damn

velvet totem
#

I.e: any defects on it is assumed that you accepted that beforehand and know it

sturdy spear
#

I know they let you buy their warranty within 15 days of purchase

#

I think

velvet totem
#

It's 30 days if you have online microcenter account

sturdy spear
#

I do

Kinda don't wanna spend the few hundred dollars though

velvet totem
#

True. That's why you should think about your option. You do have 30 days

sturdy spear
#

So what are my options here to get that addressed

velvet totem
#
  1. Go get the warranty and get that replacement - but make sure u can get a replacement if you do get a warranty
  2. Return the laptop
  3. Do nothing since it doesn't seems to be a big problem
#
  1. Check dm
sturdy spear
#

Asus warranty wouldn't cover it right?

velvet totem
#

High chance, no

#

As @naive plume said, its a user error, not factory error

sturdy spear
#

Well, it could be factory. It's not a crack on the screen. It's between the screen and the bezel

velvet totem
#

You could try to wiggle that with asus but that's a risk

#

That you bought it from mc and this is the issue, if they can rma it.

sturdy spear
#

Micro center is OOS for the laptop

naive plume
#

just get a framework kek

velvet totem
sturdy spear
#

Does it matter that I'm still within return policy for MC?

naive plume
#

asus wouldnt care

velvet totem
#

^

sturdy spear
#

Ok. I'll try soon just to see what they say

#

Should I call their customer support before submitting an RMA ticket?

velvet totem
#

You could try but I doubt calling CS would really help you from my experience dealing with customer support

sturdy spear
#

Not sure where to submit a ticket tbh

#

I haven't even registered the product

naive plume
#

CS will probably route you to TS

#

and then TS will tell you to file for rma and give you a ticket number

sturdy spear
#

Ok. I'll try tomorrow or Friday

velvet totem
#

Last time when I submitted an rma, I didn't have to register but it was mobo

sturdy spear
#

Thanks lol

velvet totem
#

Not sure about laptop

sturdy spear
#

I got sent the RMA stuff

naive plume
#

thats good

sturdy spear
#

Not sure if I wanna go through with it

naive plume
#

but there's still a chance that they reject it after inspection

sturdy spear
#

I kinda don't wanna send in the laptop for a small thing like that

#

I did register the product so I have the ADP from Asus

#

Accidental protection plan or something

naive plume
#

oh

#

thats col

sturdy spear
#

Comes with registering the product

#

This

#

@velvet totem

#

Did you register your G14

velvet totem
#

Not yet

#

I didn't know. That's a good one

sturdy spear
#

Comes 1 year if you register

velvet totem
#

Sounds to me like unless the laptop is deemed unusable in normal circumstances, this doesn't apply
