I think we should get a tag for Offsec's server @late fiber
Hi there, we have discussed this internally many times 😄
The challenge is the character limit. We will have once they allow 6 characters.
Challenge Labs should have official hints, as part of the course. This may offload some of the burden on Offsec Mentors. For LearnOne and LearnUnlimited subscribers, there's even a 2nd level hint... where key commands or solutions are revealed.
Another one.... Discord to show Offsec Mentor's schedule. That way, the student knows in advance, who is assisting for a particular course or channel.
Thank you @orchid fox for your suggestion.
Hi there, have you tried using the /ask command when seeking assistance and asking our Mentors?
We implemented this to ensure that all questions are attended, and not to miss one. There is also an integration internally that would notify our mentors if the question is not answered beyond the SLA.
Please check the announcement about our Discordenizer: #announcements message
Hints are available to all learners (not based on their subscription). Generally speaking, we tend to be a bit more restrictive with our hints when it comes to challenge labs so that learners can use them as mock-up for their exams.
I hope my responses above help 🙂
Hi there . Yes, I have .
Yep. And that’s the part that I think should change . Why? Most of the time when we request for help, is because we are stuck .
Being stuck and having LearnOne , may not be a big of a problem . But being stuck and not getting quick assistance , has a bigger impact for those who purchased 3 month subscription
I believe hints that don’t give away too much are better than no hints . Or maybe hints can be given to Challenges 1 to 6, just an example. And less or no hints to last two
Could you please provide me a time wherein our support team wasn't able to attend to you within the SLA via DM?
I just believe that , the current model of having to use “/ask” doesn’t escale well . But that’s just my opinion.
Ohh boy . That will require time for me digging , which I can’t right now
But if you browse the channel , PEN300 at least, you’ll find some examples.
Maybe some channels or courses need more assigned Mentors ? That Could be a way to reduce waiting time . I don’t think this is a big problem with PEN200 channels for example .
Thanks for sharing your thoughts@orchid fox , we’re noting your feedback internally.
Just to share some context: our mentors cover 24/7, and for now, we encourage everyone to use the /ask command when seeking assistance. This helps us track which messages haven’t been responded to within SLA, and also ensures that our on-shift mentors are automatically notified whenever a question comes in.
As for the hints, should there be any issues or blockers, learners can always seek guidance from our mentors. It’s also worth noting that challenge labs are intentionally designed to test your skills and exam readiness, unless there’s an internal issue preventing completion, in which case, our mentors will always be ready to assist.
I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and suggestions 🙂
