Originally wrote this for a bud who asked me for Rasmus Tips, then cleaned it up and added some more info for anyone else who wants to use it.

Link to doc (has all the same info as what's in here): https://docs.google.com/document/d/121pR1Kc4ewXBuam2NxtnK6UNZedcOHxrkigAOd-shgE/edit?usp=sharing

Primary – Pendulum Swing

Mechanics

  • It has a sour spot (weak hitbox) and sweet spot (strong hitbox)
  • You can’t move during the ability’s animation
  • It always hits in the direction you’re casting, regardless of which part of the hitbox connects
  • Hitbox size scales with the SIZE stat
    Tips
  • Be mindful of the fact that you can’t move once you cast it. Line up your shot accordingly
  • It helps to bounce the core off the wall, then aim for where it’s headed
  • It has enough range that you can use it immediately after a strike, but ONLY IF you strike the core while it’s behind you
  • If you try to hit the core while it’s ahead of you, it’ll be out of range by the time your primary comes out
  • With size upgrades, this becomes easier and you don’t necessarily need the core to be behind you
  • Great for stuffing
  • When stuffing vs the goalie, aim for where they + the core will intersect to hit both at once. This will stun the goalie while sending the core into the goal
  • Can KO pretty easily with size upgrades near the edge
  • You can KO goalies who are standing too close to their goal (see image below; you can roughly estimate it in-game by connecting the two corners of the goalmouth)

Whiplash (secondary)

Mechanics

  • Unlike primary, it hits in the direction from the center (where Rasmus is) outwards
  • Hitbox size scales with the SIZE stat
  • You can’t secondary → recast instantly; there’s a small delay before you can do the recast
  • It’s also currently bugged so that if you recast it at the last second before the ability runs out, it’ll play the animation without actually putting out the hitbox
    Tips
  • Try to get the most out of both usages of this ability (mobility + stuffing) when you use it
  • While you have the haste buff, you can dribble closer to the edges than usual thanks to the speed and recast
  • You can either strike → recast → strike to get the maximum # of hits out, or you can recast → strike to minimize the chance of you accidentally hitting the core backwards with the recast
  • When using it to stuff, get close to the goalie. This forces them to either clear away from you (so you can’t hit it) or hit it into you (which you can then recast into)
  • It’s good to stay near the core when you’re planning to recast in general because you can cover a greater area that way (something something geometry, just trust me)

Death Touch (special)

Mechanics

  • The projectile makes up the first ~2/3 of the ability while the creation is the last ~1/3 (see image below)
#

Tips

  • Has many usages, such as…
  • Intercepting a pass
  • Stunning the goalie to let the core slide past them into their goal
  • Stunning an enemy forward on your side of the field when your goalie is getting overwhelmed
  • KOs
  • Denying space
  • Instant coreflip tech (link: https://youtu.be/13upK9BUTU4?t=35) -- You want to be about 1-1.5 Rasmuses away from the core to do this (see image below)
#
  • (If all these seem overwhelming, try playing a few practice games with the goal of only doing 1-2 of these to get the hang of it)
#
  • Make sure that the area between you and your hook is clear so that nothing intercepts it while it travels to you
  • (Also if you’re playing with a Rasmus, pls pass the core to their ult instead of clearing away from it T_T)
  • Specialized Training gives you about the same kill range as Juliette dashpunch; the positioning is just reversed (instead of pushing them towards the edge, you’re pulling them towards it, so you have to stand on the side closer to the edge)
  • It’s still doable without Spec Training, but you have to do it significantly closer to the edge, which makes it more difficult and more risky (since you yourself can get killed there pretty easily)
  • Some maps have funny trickshot angles and techs you can pull off. Here are some examples on Night Market:

Gear

Forward

  • Slick Kicks: a consistently good pick
  • Magnetized Soles: typically not as good as Slick Kicks, but can be good in certain situations (e.g. Night Market)
  • Pummelers: good if your playstyle is KO-focused, especially on Ai.Mi’s app (since it makes fishing easier)
  • Note that it also increases the hitstun on your abilities
  • Vambrace: helps you live vs very brawly team comps
  • Wand: not worth taking over other options

Goalie

  • Momentum Boots: mobility can be useful, but generally not preferred over other options
  • Strike Shot: mostly used on Ai.Mi’s app for getting hook kills with the extra projectile range without having to leave your goal arc
  • Eject Button: not worth taking over other options
  • Powerhouse Pauldrons: BiS because most of your kit scales with SIZE
#

Awakenings

  • Size is your best friend. Both primary and secondary scale with size, making Built Different and Big Fish a must-have if they’re available
  • Specialized Training gives you greater KO potential as mentioned earlier, and makes it so the projectile portion of the ability gives red core speed (usually only the creation part does)
  • Rasmus can take pretty much any awakening and benefit from it. Here are the ones I tend to favor less though / will take moreso to deny enemy BiS:
  • Cast to Last, Timeless Creator, Deadeye, Missile Propulsion, Tempo Swing, One-Two Punch, Perfect Form, Stacks on Stacks, orb awakenings, sparks
  • Some of these are still good under specific circumstances (e.g. Deadeye is good on AiMi’s App for fishing kills, One-Two Punch can function as a budget Hotshot in a pinch, Heavy Impact and Perfect Form are better on crowded maps like Night Market, creation awakenings are more useful if you’re playing goalie), so use your best judgement!

Other Resources

Resources I shamelessly stole from (although you should look at them anyways because they have a lot of info I didn’t mention, especially Chartreuse’s guide):

Special Thanks
