Ever since the new update, whenever I close the game, it refuses to close in steam and will continue to say the game is still running. When I try to close the game directly from the steam window, It just gets stuck on "stopping". The only solution I've found for this is to go into task manager and close steam entirely.

I have this issue, too. You can also quit steam thru the taskbar and it will attempt to close the program for some time before it allows you to force close it. Basically the same thing as using the task manager.
I've had to do this since I've I bought a new laptop, confused as to why my old lappy closes it fine but the new one doesn't.
