We all love pickup pets—they save us the hassle of picking up items ourselves and provide amazing quality-of-life (QoL) improvements.
đź’ What if we could equip pickup pets with collectors or harvesting gloves?
When equipped, these items would allow the pets to:
- Collect berries (with Harvesting Gloves).
- Collect downed catchers (with a Collector).
This would add another layer of QoL to the game, making pickup pets even more useful. Here are two possible ways to implement this feature:
🛠️ Option 1: Equipable Slots for Pickup Pets
Pickup pets could have dedicated slots where you can equip a Harvesting Glove or a Collector. Once equipped, the pet would automatically perform the respective collection tasks. This would be at a reduced speed efficiency compared to doing it by hand.
🎠Option 2: Hunter or Gatherer Attributes
Upon obtaining a pickup pet, it would gain either the Hunter or Gatherer attribute:
- Hunter: Collects downed catchers.
- Gatherer: Collects berries.
You could use a scroll or visit the Pet NPC to switch between these attributes (e.g., for penya or through another system).
🌀 Additional Considerations
- Pet Speed Buffs: If your pet has increased speed (e.g., from a 200% speed scroll), it should collect materials faster—at a rate proportional to its speed increase.
- Premium Saver: This would allow players to still collect materials without wasting premium buff timers.
- Bonding Idea: Include a bonding system, similar to the couple system. As your pet collects more items, its efficiency would improve, eventually reaching a skill level that surpasses even a +5 version of an ultra collector or harvesting glove.
