Hi I was wondering, what exactly do you learn form Yomiyasu? I'm trying to find my own learning rhythm right now and saw it in the getting started channel , but while I understood how the website works I don't really get what I'm getting out of each quiz. Didn't wanna just mindlessly do the test without understanding what I'm learning so I wanted to ask

<@&1248039856404431062> Question about Yomiyasu
Is there part of this description that you have questions about?
Using it you are learning to recognize the common shapes/radicals that exist in kanji, which in turn makes it easier to differentiate and remember kanji when you learn them
Brains are just massive pattern matching machines.
Yomi-Yasu helps you train your brain to start instinctively recognizing patterns that show up a lot in kanji and can be useful for differentiating kanji that look similar.
It’s not something you have to do, just something some ppl who struggle with kanji have found helpful 🙂
ah, so it's solely for being able to differentiate small shape changes?
I kinda misunderstood it then, thought the shapes also had themes between different kanji
thank you so much, sorry you got pinged for something like this
Not at all, and you’re not entirely wrong.
Many kanji that share a “theme” will often include one similar component.
膝、肘、脚、腕、腹、腰 are all body parts for example.
But this isn’t always true, so imho it’s more just something you notice, not a rule to live by.
頭、肩、顎、指 are also body parts for example. and there are kanji with that 月-looking part on the left side that aren’t body parts.
