Is there a resource (book or website perhaps) for etymology / mnemonics of Japanese words to make learning words easier? Something that helps one to understand how individual kanji combine to create a specific meaning. Examples of words: 地下鉄, 銀行

Wiktionary sometimes has stuff but its not always 100% accurate

#

In general it's OK though

Japanese Stackexchange is a great place to ask, as well

just go on your favorite search engine and type in (word) + 由来

#

there's a dictionary for yomitan made from one of these such sites, gogen yurai

#

for most words it's kind of obvious though and for others it's unclear

#

I don't think it'll help much in learning though honestly

alright so the second one is the gogen yurai and the first one is from forum posts? Do you know what kind of forum posts? I'll probably need to translate the entries with with a translator, but these should help a lot! Thx
