Don't force yourself to do anything.

Yes, what you're doing, only looking up a word a sentence here and there is fine. It's making your input more comprehensible, which is the entire mechanism behind language acquisition.

Not doing intensive is fine.

#

People get by with just freeflow.

#

Also interactive exists.

100% free (0 lookups) = input is less comprehensible
freeflow with a lookup every sentence = more comprehensible

No

#

I did mostly freeflow/interactive until intensive wasn't painful for me to do

#

It works

I mean, pretty sure most of what I do is priming and freeflow, and even if it isn't much, I am making progress

I will answer a different way: yes but it's irrelevant

#

What will slow down progress considerably is burnout and crashing out

#

Much more considerably than not doing lookups all the time

This was just my experience, but trying to do intensive at the beginning felt painful for me as well considering I had little foundation to go off of. Once I finished my starter deck and had some freeflow hours under my belt, intensive became a lot less annoying
