Wanted to check if it's ok that it's way easier for me to remember the meaning of the word if I recall it based on the context of the example sentence (front of card). Do y'all find you will be able to recognize the word in the wild this way or should I be memorizing the word by itself without reading the example? Thx

If it's on the front of the card, use it. The beginning is hard. Anki is hard. The most important thing is that you stay consistent and keep going. Once you start mining your own cards, you might decide you prefer to have no sentence on the front, or you might like to keep a sentence on the front. They both have advantages and disadvantages.

But for now the number one important thing is to keep going and making habits, and immersing.

It's okay if it feels too easy. That's not a bad thing in the beginning

You'll still be able to recognize words in the wild, so you don't need to worry about that

Immersion teaches you

I see, wanted to make sure I would still sort of have the mental dictionary of them if I was recalling them based on the example sentence

Yes

Whether it's just the word or the sentence, Anki is just there to give you something to grab on to at first

So immersion feels less confusing
