My personal opinion is that it's something you can try out when you're more comfortable with the language. Maybe around 2C? And see if you like it or not. By changing your UI, you might learn some vocabulary words that are related to using the UI, but the most important thing you need to learn right now is how sentences are constructed and how grammar fits together so that you can understand meaning. I would focus your energies for now on finding comprehensible and or interesting immersion material.

For me it was a struggle for like a couple months but once I got used to it I saw no real reason to ever go back
It's a completely different domain from what you're probably immersing in so it won't help you understand content but it's an area of Japanese to learn

If you drive a lot changing system language in maps can be really useful

Helped me a lot with katakana

very little impact on navigation function since the icons are obvious and you still need to use your language for destinations
