So I’m not sure I would consider myself a complete beginner as I’ve studied for 5/6 years but I’ve been lazy as result of this I cut my rtk off really early. At my current reading ability I can read nekopara with 1-2 look ups per line so high n4 low n3. My listening ability is far above this I can watch a Japanese stream without a problem might be vague sometimes but that’s it I’d say n2 and above. Basically I use my dictionary as a furigana lookup. I have the feeling finishing rtk will solve a large gap in my ability (as my vocab practice is 70% recognizing the kanji), but idk how to find where I am in it what’s someone recommendation on how I should finish rtk or if I should at all. I’m currently mining a bunch that’s about it. My output is something I’m working on but I always seem to get stuck knowing there’s a word or phrase that’s natural that I can’t remember the kanji nor the reading

RTK is not recommended. It's an extremely outdated method that involves a lot of work for no real gain. That is to say, you can achieve the same results that RTK promises with just large amounts of reading and actually enjoy yourself while doing it. There are many people in this server who did RTK/RRTK in the beginning, as was recommended at the time, and pretty much all of them say it was overkill and a waste of time.
Also, as a side note, your frustrations about output are completely to be expected at your stage. You simply need more input and to continue developing your intuition in the language. Worrying about output at this stage is just putting the cart before the horse.
Fair enough I didn’t know that it’s considered outdated how is kanji taught now?
I see so what I’m doing now
