as seen in the image, if I try to change the subtitle or outline to black, it doesnt work and is just white

i would suggest adding a custom css style instead, such as one that uses text-shadow

in the settings select textShadow from 'add custom css'
and fill it in with this:
0 0 2px black, 0 0 2px black, 0 0 2px black, 0 0 2px black
