Hello, recently I've been having trouble remembering kanji or the meanings of them, I've already lowered my interval modifier to 171% a few months back and that hasn't seemed to help that much. I'm currently on 40%-70% retention rate averaging 60%, I'm wondering what's the lowest interval modifier you would recommend using before it becomes a bit obsolete. I understand anki is not the place to learn and I'm not too disheartened by it but would like to see those numbers more in the range of 70-80% for a bit of feel good. I tend to use vocab cards, otherwise I seem to rely on the sentence too much and won't recognise the kanji in immersion. I keep trudging on no matter how bleak it may seem and still really enjoy learning and immersion, any extra help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

imo instead of using ivl modifier you should generally add more learning steps and decrease starting ease
since decreasing the interval modifier very linearly increases the amount of reviews you get for eternity
while these other solutions would sorta.make sure you learn it better in the first place
That makes sense, if I add more steps would you recommend going back to 191% ivl mod or stay at 171%? I have my steps at 1 and 10 like the anki setup page says, do you have a rough suggestion of what to add to it? Thanks for the response!
rereading I'm confused why your interval is over 100 in the first place
i had a lot of steps but changed it around a bunch
like 0.33 1 5 60 etc
you can start small but up to you
The refold anki setup page says to have your interval modifier at 191% I just followed the instructions when I first set it up. Did you keep yours at the default 100 then? Thanks I'll have a play with the steps and see what helps 👍
