Hi, beginner here. I want to take N4 on 3rd December for working in Japan trough SSW next year, since SSW test required to have at least N4, So I decide to take it.
Have been watching anime since 2014 with English subtitles (28 years old now)
Recently decided to really study Japanese (about 1 month), and finished JP1K and immersing anime and YouTube content with Japanese subtitles.
I find JP1K easy to recall the meaning but not the readings, right now I'm struggling to plan my study for the test. yotsubashock

What do you guys suggest for my next move?

  • VN 2K deck?
  • Sentence mining?

Thanks, and sorry for my poor English

If you have a specific need to pass N4, probably best to study for the test specifically? Test vocab doesn't always line up with vocab frequency in immersion, after all.

Maybe the Tango N5 and Tango N4 decks, deleting any cards you already know from JP1K.

Or maybe use the Core 2.3k deck first, which will help prepare you for sentence mining and understanding more of your immersion as well, and then check through Tango N5 and N5 afterwards to plug any holes. (Again, deleting anything you already know along the way, of course.)

If you want to pass a JLPT test, not only do you need to know the material on it, but you also need to know the format of the test very well so you can pace yourself.

Along with studying the specific material that will be on the test, spam practice tests to prepare for the format.

You can take a fully simulated mock test for N5 and N4 here https://www.unagibun.com/jlpt-online/

Thanks, will try to use N5/N4 and delete known vocab. I'll try to spam the mock test as much as possible TUp

Still kanji is my weakness, only <30% success on recall reading with JP1K

Is Wanikani Tokyo Drift Deck worth to try?
