Hello I just had a quick question as I don't know where exactly to begin with this. At level 1 how important is it to practice writing while learning the base 1k words? I don't have a lot of time during the week so I'm trying to gauge how much more difficult it will be to learn my words. Thank you for any responses!

I think the general consensus is that early output should be avoided (writing, texting, speaking etc.) So unless you think writing would help you remember things better, or you want to write you can probably skip it

Handwriting is not necessary. Simply going through the 1k deck and reading Japanese subs while watching shows is enough

Actually even beyond not being necessary, it’s really difficult to maintain without a baseline level of output. Otherwise you’d just spend hours of your time doing kanji handwriting drills which (from experience) gets so tedious.
