Hello! Two questions I've been thinking about as I try to increase how much I read (again)
-
The person running Game Gengo recommends games with furigana (like Ni no Kuni) for beginners. I think furigana is regarded negatively in the refold community (could be wrong). I was wondering if it's a complete waste of time or if it's a worthwhile way to spend time learning japanese. One of the top things I plan to do with japanese is play games so this question is quite important for me.
Edit: my current vocabulary is around 2k words, and I am wondering if acquisition through furigana in the context of a game is a valid way to increase that -
On everything where I read japanese (discord, the internet) I always make the text size significantly bigger (2x or so) in order to see the kanji more clearly and distinguish between the strokes. Is this a mistake? I presume japanese natives do not need this as they have enough experience and intuition with kanji that they can just read them at a 12 point size, so is this a bad habit? I've found that it makes it significantly less frustrating/slow to increase text size but I can try to put up with it if it's a mistake.
Thanks for the help.
