So I've been playing this game called Summer Pockets, and there are many unknown words that I have been coming across. Since I feel like they may not come up again, I have been making the effort to add these words to my anki deck (vocab mining, but not really sentence mining); however, I still haven't completed my core deck yet. I am about 700 words into my core 2.3k deck and I want to continue using this deck until I finish it. Should I continue vocab mining or should I continue doing the core deck then start sentence mining once I reach a certain amount of words?
#Should I be adding every unknown word I come across into my anki deck?

mining every unknown word would be both overwhelming and unproductive.
Stick to words that are i+1 and that give you good enough context that you have a decent shot at learning the word through context+lookup and remembering it through anki.
I would recommend doing the first deck only until you are regularly running into good i+1 sentences. If it feels like every sentence is i+2 or more you might want to spend more time with it, but I doubt you need to finish the whole deck.
Don't worry about never running into words again.
Think about it this way - if you actually never encounter the word ever again, why do you need to learn it?
If you will, then don't worry more opportunities will come around.
Also you can put the word into anki browse to see if it'll show up in core 2.3k
I see then. I'm using the core 2.3k right now and I often tend to read other stuff on the side such as manga and news. I tend to encounter some i+1 sentences there. Would it be alright to sentence mine those? And what is the minimum amount of vocab required to start sentence mining? I was thinking of dropping the core 2.3k at 1,000 vocab words, but other people are telling me to finish the deck first then start sentence mining.
There isn't a minimum per se, the purpose of doing the pre-made starting deck is to prepare you to mine by laying enough of a foundation of learned words that i+1 sentences show up with regularity and the content that you find them in isnt too frustrating to consume. 1000 cards is a good guideline where most people reach that point.
If you are at that point, no need to continue. Your own mined deck is far more useful.
Lots of people think you'll "miss out" on the words you didn't do in the starter deck, but that isn't how it works. You'll run into them and learn them eventually.
If you are still doing it, feel free to also mine. But make sure you don't overwhelm yourself by adding too many new cards per day.
I'll probably wait till I hit 1k words to start mining then. I'll also continue the core deck alongside it. Ty.
