Hiya! I'm looking to start learning Japanese using Refold's methodology, but am a bit a overwhelmed. I figure that I should learn kana before anything else, so I've started working on that for now. I'm just not sure what to do after I fully learn kana...It seems like I should immediately start immersion along with the JP1K deck, but I don't know how I should split my time between the traditional studying/memorisation and immersion. I really don't have anything going on in my life currently (homeschooled highschool senior), so there isn't any cap on how much time I can dedicate to learning as a whole.
#What should my schedule or routine look like as a complete beginner?

It's recommended to immerse from day 1 to start getting the language in your brain. So that would mean as soon as you finish the kana and start vocabulary with jp1k.
As for the exact time split, I pretty much agree with Kirnic.
Sounds good! I I guess I should also ask if there's "soft-cap" of sorts when it comes to time spent immersing? Or is it largely linear? Just trying to figure out how much time I should spend for peak efficiency 🙂
More time immersing is better, I wouldn’t say there is a soft cap. Early on you might want to do more anki than one would later in the process to develop a good base. But I’d postpone a decision like that till you know you will be consistent, don’t burn out
Of course, yeah. Thanks for all the help ^^
Hey friend, there is definitely a "soft cap" in terms of time spent immersing, but you probably won't have to worry about it as long as you're enjoying your content. Your sixth hour is not going to be as efficient as your first as your attention and thinking power declines
I am sure where exactly the 'cap' is is different for everyone, but for reference I found mine to be at around 6-8 hours
