Ahhh, i see, no hyperthreading on that i7 , still good card depending on resolution looking to play, new 13th and 14th gen intels have issues , so probs recommend amd cpu , and go either way on gpu depending on price range, performance and applications to use for gpu besides gaming

both nvidia and amd have good options , if you are looking to use stuff that needs cuda has "better" ray tracing, dlss, then nvidia , but if you want driver level frame gen , and global fsr ,then amd , 4080-4090 vs 7800xt -7900xtx

#

dlss and fsr = (run game at lower resolution in engine, then do ai domahicky to make it look like 2k or 4k)

#

cuda = optimized stuff for like editing in photoshop , blender , ai stuff, amd has rocm but not as widely supported

#

ray tracing = real lifht reflections , nvidia has it more refined than amd, but enabling it usually tanks performance on both cards so most people dont even enable it

#

Frame generation= Scan 1 frame, Scan next frame , do math and ai domahickys to create in between frame , to double the perceived performance , nvidia has to have it enabled in games by developers , amd has a in game version, and driver version that you can turn on for any dx11/dx12 game (most popular games are either of those)

#

@weary nexus did you have a price range in mind

then for gpus id probably say look at these cards on bosth sides , for nvidia 4070 and above , and for amd 6800xt , and 7800xt and above , the 6800xt has some less features but runs on average faster than the 7800xt for lower price since its older

In this review, we benchmark the new AMD RX 7800 XT GPU and test it against the RX 6800 XT, NVIDIA RTX 4070, RTX 4070 Ti, RX 7900 XT, RX 6700 XT, and more. The GPU market still has last-gen options available, complicating the decision-making process for the RX 7800 XT. In some w...

i would also recommend gaming at 2k for best balance of fps and quality, 4k for details but lower fps, and 1080 for all the frames
