monke not suitable for CTT ❌
we'd just be repeating text at that point, worse for maintainability and it'd look much less clean
i do think a page for troubleshooting and encoding lag would be useful to people though, although it would basically just say to follow the guide again properly
Sometimes people need to hear that
I can’t tell you how many times the issue with someone’s encoding lag has been not disabling psycho visual tuning
use !!! instead of ???
???+
!?!?
women dont exist

find things i could explain better than what’s wrote on discord
poor explanations / things i should add extra context to / things i miss out on

is the stuff in the amf thread still up to date
how has this been progressing if at all
nm
is there anything that needs to get done that hasnt been worked on already
if u know dev u could try and see if you can have HTML in the markdown file so we can skimp on premium and have cool widgets
most of the encoding stuff is being worked on and if not almost done
who is working on that
You are
who is you ?
https://winlibs.com > all
WinLibs - MinGW-w64 personal build = GCC for Windows 32-bit and 64-bit - Coming soon: the largest collection of open source libraries ported to Windows using MinGW-w64 and MSYS2.
scoop install mingw-winlibs
exists
wait what the fuck why this conversation turned nerd talk
why would ctt wiki need mingw
because atzur decided to link their superior library but it DOES NOT USES MKDCOS MATERIAL !!!
OHH WERE TALKING DOCUMENTATION
(idk what this means)
mkdocs material is what we use for ctt wiki
and cooler was showing us that the website specified was also using that
u snoober
i thought he meant the website specified was more material for our mkdocs website
so i sent better material
also outdated asf btw
that was the first google result
the official scoop repo literally doesn't come up on google
Scoop Apps is an online package browser for Scoop, the command-line installer for Windows
where the hell are you looking
i don't trust google anymore of results
can some video nerd give me a solid definition of "artifact"
i was thinking this is p good
e.g. smearing
resampling ❓
u have to add a citation there https://github.com/Irrational-Encoding-Wizardry/guide.encode.moe/blob/master/LICENSE
wdym
bc their license requires that
my bad for not citing in discord </3
im talking about the website
well ofc i would cite
okaygood
idek if i would use that tho i jus need someome to tell me a good definition
i would probably not say resampling because vegas decided that it also means frame blending
which doesnt cause artifacts
so just replace that with scaling or something
but yeah it is correct
Video "artifacts" are visual defects in a video caused by issues in processing, compression, or transmission, such as pixelation, banding, blocking, ringing, aliasing, frame interpolation errors, and noise.
quillbot is my best friend
"unwanted" is the keyword here
alr j add it
bored so im gonna make cyberpunk and fortnite optimisation guide
for cyberpunk im gonna do optimised settings that give visual quality close/indistinguishable from max settings
and fortnite i will do both, one for max fps and the other will be max visual quality with optimised settings, with rt and non rt presets
@pseudo maple i have stuff to help u with that
i sent it to cooler a while ago but
the fn part
wdym
i wanna make a guide because the amount of brainless guides out there that dont understand anything about performance
oh
3D Resolution
100% - https://i.imgur.com/cC0edNN.jpeg
90% - https://i.imgur.com/F8PTSJS.jpeg
80% - https://i.imgur.com/SRwGnLb.jpeg
70% - https://i.imgur.com/Lhmk4Ll.jpeg
60% - https://i.imgur.com/2UJXu8k.jpeg
50% - https://i.imgur.com/xHXzTxH.jpeg
theres more
but all the guides can be boiled down to "use the absolute lowest settings possible"
which is stupid because there are settings that are better to have on high and dont affect performance
"comparison in the 3D resolutions btw
essentially anything under 90% makes your game look mid and anything below 75% makes your game look absolutely terrible"
like texture quality and view distance
its better to have them on high
then there is no need to ping an item to see what it is LOL
3d resolution doesnt do much if ur on lowest settings as ur mostly cpu bound
native is always the best
and then theres kids who think that 99% gives them better input latency than 100%
lowering resolution is only helpful if ur gpu bound or trying to play with higher graphics settings
in that case using dlss or tsr is the best option
perf with low on all and sometimes medium on views
low on all cuz medium often makes me drop frames in fights
like even on views
proof? are you sure thats not placebo
its not placebo
i wanna see a frametime graph in identical scenarios like replay mode
it might just be your hardware configuration
i dont have replays
but in long fights
it drops to like 180
-240
and with low its always 240+
trust me
I will compare when i have time because i never have issues
it only happens in liek
moving zones
but it defo happens
like i dont know what its on and ill be getting fps drops so i check and its on medium
maybe subconcious placebo but
having it on low decreases the render distance for player builds
to like 150m
i play max view distance and textures because it makes the game look less shit and doesnt affect fps for me
how do low textures look better
you can use max textures on low meshes u know that right
thats what i do
low meshes are a no brainer as its literally less polygons
old comparision but fps with view distance is within margin of error
theres not a moving zone
its a very like specific
like it only happens endgame
buit its still enough to make me not want to use
thats so hard to actually test as every endgame fight is different
record endgame fight with replay mode
and test it like that
ye ofc
people claim is lowers input lag when its capped, but literally everyone plays with low latency mode which limits queued frames
if you actually want a good cap make it double your refresh rate in nv control panel
heres a goofy test of mine
fps changes a tiny bit throughout the video but due to other things like people fighting in the distance
why does the obs wiki say nothing about advanced tab
🔮⠂CTT Wiki
making this look more like a channel
🔮⠂ctt.cx website
@rugged scarab i'm gonna remove the term wiki, I'm not content with it
just mention it as ctt.cx or /ctt, and call what it stores docs/ documentation
I like to explain is as an aggregation of useful resource, instead of a wiki thats specific to a subject
(i'm also very biased becasue i dont like how the word sounds)
okay
In the same repo/server it's being hosted in
u can just put it in the same repo
Enjoy rewriting history

or zentimine.xyz exists (ask for the access now!)
good idea
I offer cdn hosting, for ctt I'd be more than willing to host it for free
i feel like its safer in github
👍
no i think a separate repository like ctt-media would be fit for this
each of them adds up and when you wish to git clone you must download all present and past frames because git stores all files (even past ones that are now deleted) locally
just don't update the files 🔥
(good point)
that’s space wasted for everyone
so yeah a repo like couleur-tweak-tips/ctt-media would be cool
u could make another repo and instruct people to clone it with a depth of 1
that's also kinda messy though
like, think about PRs
you'd have to do 2
ohh yeah a submodule
@grave crater wouldnt that be cool
ig u could use submodules
try and C
C
you could work on a template for https://canary.discord.com/channels/774315187183288411/898186544882520104
also can we decide on like, a style guide for categories and pages?

e.g I did this
very similar to how i did it on discord
but theres room for improvement with mkdocs-material's cool markup
e.g content tabs https://squidfunk.github.io/mkdocs-material/reference/content-tabs
i just wanna keep everything consistent so it doesn’t feel odd to look thru
ye if u could suggest something to stick on when making docs for all the programs / browser extensions
also is there like a roadmap for what we’re doing
like i guess getting all the stuff from discord to the docs before adding new stuff
also fir stuff like
how would that be added, u could group them by category i guess?
about that, i got a plan:
this is an unorganized list of tips that relate to program / websites
to link in /windows/install #🍣|the-tweak-tips message
maybe a PowerShell snippets tips page #🍣|the-tweak-tips message
/programs/scoop #🍣|the-tweak-tips message
/programs/discord #🍣|the-tweak-tips message
web extensions #🍣|the-tweak-tips message
oh yeah that would be nice
honestly this is so specific i'm not sure #🍣|the-tweak-tips message
new contributor for linux related stuff perhaps: @flat pendant
programs/browser/index #🍣|the-tweak-tips message
hai :3
hi
@hazy burrow adding you as well, you might be interested in contributing to https://ctt.cx
wouldnt it look better if it was moved a bit to the right
like ughh what
@sinful estuary if u want
idk how to do that shit
so ughh
make a new section
well duih
just write me some markdown
idk abt what
don’t some pages use html

idek
you can probably have html overrides
would be better if it was "common settings" and switchable "tabs" for different encoders
like this
👍
s/, this will/:
thank you
is the main repo the one here:
yes
hmm
i’d like some others opinions on this too but
as for installation instructions
maybe we should just link the github installation page if there is one for whatever program?
bc this is rly useful
yes
@ocean ledge thoughts on this
i would agree, unless the gh page doesn't have a very clear tutorial
ye
we can do this for every single linux program
few if not none of them are gonna have winget, scoop, chocolatey, portable, installer, and all the *nix package managers
well if you take the yt dlp installation page as an example, why should we rewrite the installation instructions on ctt docs if u can just link the github page which will most of the time stay updated
yeah thats true
i guess for some programs thats not needed
but if they have so many options like yt dlp i think it’s a better idea to link their page
WAAAAAAAAA
having an external link needs managing tabs if you're reading thru ctt, but it also makes it on them to keep it up to date
well i mean
i could make it embed, or copy and have notis on
yeah maybe
i’d rather open a new tab if there’s that many options idk about others
now this is cool
but cant be done with every program because some include the version number in the release filename which would always need to update
lol
looks cool
blud is right
we "could" have a bot that scans for key words and then drops a message with the corresponding ctt link
similar to how slack bots have custom responses
i feel like that'd get annoying quick
so if "help" and "smoothie" are in the same message it'll auto trigger
no trust me itll be so annoying
with ephermal messages and a way to disable it per user
no it can be made good
those are only good for rly large servers
ephermal messages dont work without slash commands
ill look into it anyways this would make them goated for this use
and a way to opt out of them
i have a lil experience with bot dev if u plan on making anything
i think that a better solution would be having one specific and seperated channel with all of the links to ctt.cx's pages, or at least the main ones
i think so too
then u can just be like "have u checked #channel-here first" or "look at the obs/smoothie/blur page in #channel-here"
same
the bot directly linking to the channel?
could u check if ephermal messages can be done without command
they cant
can u make sure
ik for sure
it needs an interaction to be ephemeral
so message commands wont work
they can?
we could do advanced regex
buttons and slash commands do
hone has it WAYY TOO sensitive
but we could have a huge regex / list of all the formulations we found so far
hone free
we could have a timeout too
like 10 seconds
ye it deletes itself 10 seconds after sending
that'd mean that although it'd false trigger less, it'd also not trigger as much when it actually is meant to be used
and have an opt out feature
i just dont think its a good method
so you never trigger it if you dont want to
or dont trigger it for a set amount of time
ye it's pretty overcomplicated, you'd probably need ur own bot as well for custom functionality like this
the servers ive been in with this its never not been annoying
kk thx for checking
i could make it pretty easily but i just dont think its the best solution
u could also have a bot in this section with the status "use slash commands for help" or something
and have like /smrs etc which then could send an ephemeral msg
they always wont be a person to "!" to provide info
i mean
tru
if u have a good regex for it
i think that it's easiest to centre the server around a channel containing links & info to the wiki pages, and if that's done well (which would be a lot less complicated), then i think that people would more ask questions about the docs rather than "where blur config"
u could make the channel in its own category in the server list
this could work, something like "/issue before asking"
this too
but i swear every server ive been in with a bot that does that never works as well as u think it would
does that imply ure not interested in trying making a bot for it
yeah u can allow a user to only pick from a certain list of options with slash commands so that could work
no id love to
but idk if it should be the first solution
what heals said here is a better idea before tryng to make a bot n stuff
with that said time to finish audio
yea, this discussion should be a last step really, we'd probably have a better idea of what would be best then anyways
You can find all documentation, guides and settings here:
🔗 CTT.cx
💯
u should hyperlink them
it's on one page (the faq)
at least it was
that forum post is old
very small pr if anyone free to check
But I think the best part of movign to website is having updated info as some of the info in discord has started getting outdated.
@flat horizon yeah we're rewriting most things from the ground up
the only things im gonna copy over is encoding settings of hardware i dont phyiscally own, i leave that to those who do
it'll also be constantly updated if and when new features come out
*Some niche things are difficult to find such as the reenc script which I could only find using the !reenc command. *
yeah i'm seriously considering a repo dedicated to FFmpeg scripts
upscaling
4k-notifier
reenc / discordcompressor
extract audio from video file
set speed (fps) without reencoding
tmix (frame blending) actually faster than VEGAS on recent nightly builds
good idea
Do not add the bot that responds to ur messages
We already have enough active support members like gem (he’s the whole workforce) who can link ppl to places
If I ever see a unread in support and the ranked discord mod isn’t online and someone else hasn’t responded I always read it and help if I can
If not they get ignored (L+Bozo)
generally when im offline Z1xus is online
hes the night force
Please give me a smidge of credit if you use my scripts (PLEASE PLUG MY SCRIPTS)
i kinda addressed this stuff in my very cool form
we gotta wait for discord to add inline queries
@dilent there are already experiments of it
what would happen to premium channels with a website
would they still just be on discord
if you ask so nicely 👍
they’ll stay yeah
A collection of multi-purpose guides, resources, and applications relating to operating-system tweaking and gameplay recording/rendering.
i might do the halo one
instead of release my custom guide
yeah i haven’t accepted ur halo guide yet
i might redo it
i have done pretty decent experimentation in terms of optimizing the game
(which will be the main focus of the article)
who wrote the contribution guidelines page?
also what does this mean whoever wrote it
most common what
also i think https://google.github.io/styleguide/docguide/style.html is a good guide for us to follow, is this something we can all agree on using?
especially we should decide character line limits bc this is just rly hard to read imo
Left over from another sentence but it’s “the most common way of replication motion blur discussed in this guide” or something like that
Typo
ill push some code and you guys can follow along on the same vibe
alt+z to toggle line wrap
and yea i agree
its on yeah
still hard to read
something like this is way better imo
don’t bother PRing the existing docs as i’m rewriting absolutely everything
Shrink the window size
i think its still generally good advice to follow
didnt even know abt this
do we get like contributions on the pages that each person wrote?
ex "contributed to by [user1], [user2], [user3]
and like a link to the github
link to the github is on the top bar
that does not show contributors sadly
it is a feature but only for insiders
if you find me a way to find all contributors to a file i can do some powershell trickery to automate it
$ git log -p --follow -- ./src/scala.html

what so benefical about it
i honestly never understood the appeal of tui based editors its hassle to get extensions unless you look packs that have all of the extensions
it just hosting the cli app
if you have a server, you use a tui editor
except windows server
you can open an editor like any cli tool
it feets in your terminal workflow
once you master vim you actually code faster than on gui apps
i use a "gui" version too https://neovide.dev/

how much faster 🤓

not really
google -> github -> write repo name
google plugin you want, check the github to see if that's the thing you need and just put the author/repo-name in the config
honestly idc use the fuck you want to use
that one of the reasons why people use mc clients over generic forge or fabric, same with people using other power user mc launchers over the official one
its already there and easy to find
@ocean ledge what are the plans for the amd recording settings

do they have good hardware encoders
they do have AMF
these are the only amd gpus i have

Normal follows the standards for text readability
There’s a more accurate term for that
Can’t find the original article I read about this years ago but this is close enough
In web design, one element is often forgotten: the width of your page’s text area. Text boxes that are too large – which affects readability – could mean a higher bounce rate or content that gets missed. This has an effect on UX. The key point is that the text box size should make your … Continued
tl;dr
A text box as wide as a 30-inch screen is less efficient for reading and site design than one that is 700 pixels (2.33 inches) in width.
“If you find yourself having to move your neck/head to read the text in a single column, then it’s probably too wide. Ideally, the reader should be able to scan each line just by moving their eyes”
depends on the size of my monitor and how far away I am
When I’m actually reading stuff that goes from bezel to bezel on my 27in, it’s way easier for me to swivel my head than it is for me to hold it still

vote for upscaling page icon
3rd and 5th are the only options anyone should be saying
The rest of them are icons for user actions like full screening or popping out
That’s just be misdirection
5th's arrow is so tiny it just looks like a square
the word "Upscaling" would probably be next to it though, right?
on the sidebar
Yes but it’d make it sound like you’re opening it in a new tab or full screening it
Those are textbook icons for that
when next to other icons/pages no one would assume that
They absolutely would
doubt
3rd looks like upscaling pixels
i would also like to suggest this as a play on words
do we have a list of topics still needed to be contributed but not taken up by anyone

real question is what topics should be added
essentially just #🔗⠂links-and-news

ye idk if anyone would get the joke
a community driven newsletter would be cool but ik damn well there’s nothing interesting we have going on every week 😭
[BREAKING] new argument in main chat! (click for more info)
Monthly newsletters maybe
that could definitely work
no just take everything that's been sent in #🔗⠂links-and-news
i don’t think most of it is
newsletter material
newsletter seems like stuff revolving around ctt
but a lot of that is just like yt vids n stuff
breaking news new ctt cat meme
why not make a blog for server specific updates
yeah
would be cool
we could do something like a tilde.town where each person can drop their contribution
:D
BookStack is a simple, open-source, self-hosted, easy-to-use platform for organising and storing information.
@ocean ledge how close are you to pushing the rework stuff you’ve done
now that you make me think of when i should just push it even tho it’s not finished
maybe make a development branch or something like that
pr nightmares
i remember he3als updating the main repo and then my fork had a merge conflict
i jus want everyone to be on the same page kinda
finish the entire thing and then push
didn’t all your work get deleted once
it did
just push everything at once
that way you can refactor anything else if required later
yeah
it’s still in the history
ok ill wait till it’s ready

@ocean ledge can i still work on the template for #📦|programs or have you done that already
i havent decided on a template yet
feel free to suggest some
look at the possibilities
we could fork this and add per-package manager click-to-copy commands
did u see my recommendation for this site on the feedback thing
that was me btw i forgot to put my name

no i forgor all about that

oh its 15 a month i see

pls push

oh yeah idk about an audio category it’s too prominent for it’s importance
put it in misc. then?
ripping audio using yt-dlp
yeah
i still don’t know how imma structure windows tweaks
since i also wanna include linux stuff
ig linux will be in misc until it gets big

oh its there nvm
@ocean ledge i dont mind doing a full a-z linux guide for the documentation
at whoever wrote this it should be i420 instead of nv12
so that smoothie and blur dont have to convert
saves a bit of time
and this wikipedia link seems more helpful https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chroma_subsampling
i'll fix it
vapoursynth doesnt support nv12 internally so it has to be converted everytime
whats the link?
which isnt terribly slow but still
im not accepting this until someone atleast tests it wait lol
i didnt benchmark it but i read the code and thats whats happening
u can test it urself im too lazy
but im pretty confident
kk thx for the suggestion
to wha
to where that color line is
obs -> advanced
@ocean ledge did you change the mkdocs icon formatting thing
cause im getting an error every time i try locally hosting
show it
update ur pip package it’s a new emoji set
pip update?
works?
@rugged scarab got a clu?
nah it works now
just had to updated the material package too
@ocean ledge if we had a fully fledged switching to linux guide what would it ideally include?
do we plan on making blur documentation or just smoothie
i feel like most of the info we'd provide on blur is already present in blur's readme
honestly i think its terrible
"explained further"
for that you need a nerd brain
prob its just me but not documenting it in the readme is kind of inconvenient
alr
@rugged scarab @ocean ledge made PR for qsv again cuz someone overwrote my old one and didn't put the new information about OBS 30 in 💀
my bad yeah i gotta also look into Aetopia’s GAMING pr
yeah + i do not maintain blur so I’d like to focus on program i personally support
if blur ends up being that much better i would consider also making a category for it
Looking for that one qsv benchmarking thread I made
Not talking about the vladdad graph
Ok it seems that I'm tripping balls
Where tf did it go
- Flashing and booting on a USB Stick
- Drives, partitions, file systems, boot menu
- Programs & games not available in Linux (mention ProtonDB)
- Package management & CLI basics
- An overview of distros and desktop environments
That sounds like a pretty big thing to write, and I want to get the experience and handle enough situations where I’ve set a bunch of good rules for writing docs
There’s stuff I’d like to enforce but can’t word into rules like how concise do you have to be or how exhaustive when enumerating programs
I've done a buncho Linux shit as a non power user so hmu for the common man's struggles 💀
Do we wanna talk about custom OSs like atlas and revi?
for windows tweaking i’d like to mention
- TweakList (imma have the docs for it)
- Sophia Script & Sophi App
- Amit’s PC Tuning
- AME Playbooks
- AME Playbooks (idk how to differentiate them from the general term lol)

I think AME’s docs already are pretty good at presenting them, though I’ll have a heading explaining what is actually open source and what is not
makes sense
and when mentionning multiple programs per page I really wanna have something like this with synced content tabs
and have a proper formatting procedure like
=== Windows
winget, scoop, chocolatey, installer, portable
=== Linux
apt-get, rpm, flatpak ect..
=== pacman
pacman, paru, yay, msys2
with each being click to copy the command
so i’ll probably make an Espanso template for something as verbose as this
also for the theme i’m not satisfied with the default purple / grey so i’ll give a try of doing dark grey with purple accent, https://privacyguides.org style
ye gotchu
also its cleaner without em in the way all the time 💯
WOWZIESS 😻
@keen ingot should i keep that little line
thats so good
but filled blur logo ruins it
do you want me to make outline one
wdym
I don't think so
If you do make it consistent with the other colour
this one
or maybe it already is
color blind
not consistent!!!!
u mean it's not centered / sized accordingly?
that white logo does stand out yeah
idk how i made it look okay on both light and dark mode
can replace with outline styled like all the other ones
need to make one
can make one if request
couleur
will look like a grey square
are you acosutic be hoenst
this is what an outline one means
just three squres
one full opacity
two half opacity
they overlap each other
acoustic?
coule ur is this pushed

oh no my website uses google fonts
the seperator looks weird to me in the middle
but it's unique so i kinda like it lol
how custom icon 👁️
which one
how did you get the blur icon into the list
i thought svgs were only allowed
i converted it to a SVG
!!!
it looks a bit silly
site lookin great tho
as for icons, is there a certain style we should follow? i notice some icons are just the colored ones and others are the plain white ones
like this
All custom ones would look the best.
Rule of thumb for most of them:
Non-colored are generic material emojis for topics
Colored icons are for program logos
The only exception to the latter is the about ctt, I'm still unsure, maybe I should rename to Home?
@ocean ledge
CAN I ADD HOW SETUP A MINIMAL C/CPP developement env for WINDOWS PLS PLS
msys2 is godly

that is some interesting niche topic
its not actually
would it be something that fits on one page or should be divided in multiple
single
support tip:
we can make shortcuts to specific errors in the doc for support :)
so it'll be super easy to make carlbot !tags
hmmmm
did i write that second screenshot or did you
you did
but notice ze icons
also are you going through that plan you told me abt with smoothie
i took inspiration of doing these purple lines from this https://blueswen.github.io/mkdocs-glightbox/
and visual studio for C++ i suppose
to debug on windows sadly yes
The goal of this project is to translate the wonderful resource http://e-maxx.ru/algo which provides descriptions of many algorithms and data structures especially popular in field of competitive programming. Moreover we want to improve the collected knowledge by extending the articles and adding new articles to the collection.

It's arranged like OBS

yeah i just remember it being sorted by encoder last time i went to the site
Cool
Anyway
Update amf and nvenc docs to be as detailed as mine, I look like a mega nerd
😭😭😭
yours?
qsv just got way more parameters
i document what i know matters in nvenc
Damn 💀
I documented literally everything 😭
Should I shorten that shit?
It's so long cuz qsv is good for many uses
Lots of config options
U can see in icq section
16 looks like nvenc, 21-24 looks ok, 30+ if ur on a crapper pc
will there be streaming settings 👀
if everything you're talking about is relevant, keep it
Gochu
I got that
A new contender in the high quality streaming field has appeared: Intel! Their current generation of encoder hardware is capable of matching (and sometimes exceeding) the fast preset in x264, while exceeding real-time speeds at that quality. This makes Intel a good alternative to NVIDIA Turing/Ampere GPUs for budget builds, and as such makes Dua...
this exists
Ah alr
LURKERS!!!
lurkers
@ocean ledge do you use vs code to edit markdown for the site?
wgat else would you use
macos' textedit obviously
sublim-
after further research ive concluded that i was wrong
itll only matter if you use hardware decoding
which i think neither blur or smoothie do
YES
You !should use Doomemacs https://github.com/doomemacs/doomemacs
!not vim
u can do diaporamas
A guidebook for Cutie City and the wider Fediverse.

so are there guidelines on how to write for the website yet?
I think removing the redirect when trying to open video/obs/install would be better.
description: GNU/Linux specific guides
icon: simple/linux
:simple-linux: Introduction
This category is dedicated to providing guides on GNU/Linux specifically.
:material-book: Defenitions
:material-ubuntu: Distributions
Linux distributions, often referred to as "Linux Distros," are FOSS operating systems built upon the Linux Kernel and the GNU coreutils. These systems, collectively known as GNU/Linux, combine the Linux Kernel with essential GNU tools to create a fully featured unix-like environment.
:simple-i3: Window Managers
A window manager is software that organises and displays windows in a GUI. It works with display servers like, Xorg (or) Wayland to display said windows.
Popular Window Managers
- KWin: The default window manager in the K Desktop Environment.
- i3wm: A light automatic tiling window manager.
- sway: i3 under Wayland, supports i3 configs.
- DWM: A suckless, simple window manager.
:octicons-terminal-24: The Terminal
The Terminal is the command line for Linux Distros, this program will be one of the most used programs of a Linux user.
Popular Terminal Emulators
- Alacritty: A cross-platform, OpenGL terminal emulator written in rust. Configured with yaml.
- Kitty: Cross-platform, fast, feature-rich, GPU based terminal.
- Terminator: Gives you the ability to have multiple terminals tiled in one terminal window.
what should i change here
i should remove the misleading text that you see briefly
obs has different links for each version and their download page suffices
alr
pictures for each of the DEs, it took me a second to realize K Desktop Environment was KDE
also mention arch (& endeavour) and debian-based (all the ubuntu forks that ship with specific DEs) distros
Cool Ideas:
- How to setup a minimal Windows C/C++ development environment.
- How to setup a minimal C#/.NET Development Environment.
busybox, artix and the benefits of systemd-less distros
if it’s stuff that fits in a single page that could be put in their respective programs page
I think the C#/.NET one can fit.
there isn't much setup to begin with
the C/C++ is the same story but 2 routes.
One is using mingw-winlibs and second one is using MSYS2 for UCRT + C++/WinRT
i prob make a draft first.
Ok, so
- Images for the window managers and desktop environments
- Mention Distributions under "Distributions"
- GNU-less and SystemD-less distributions
what's the point of a gnuless distro
i understand the reasons for systemd
i think just mentioning that those exist
but why
Im going to remove KWin and add KDE to "Desktop Environments"
Rate
is microsoft’s docs not good enough
The Terminal is the command line for Linux Distros, this program will be one of the most used programs of a Linux user.
??
topito is high
minimal C : download mingw binaries
it's best to leave things like this to the official docs imo
if it's specific software guides then that's fair
THE WAY I SEARCHED FOR WINDOWS TERMINAL AND ACCIDENTALLY GOT ONTO CTT GUIDE
ok
wdym
not indexed
google history thing
but guide very useful
google better index this shi
u mean u found it on google?!!
